Falken Tire — one of Tajima’s sponsors — has (finally) released a slick video of Tajima’s winning run in the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. “Monster” hustled his 897-horsepower twin-turbocharged Suzuki SX4 through the 12.42 mile course in 10 minutes and 11.49 seconds. The engine sounds amazing, and Tajima’s long slide at 3:35 in the vid is glorious to behold.
Ten minutes and change is amazing considering the course, which requires drivers to negotiate pavement and gravel as they make 156 turns and climb 4,721 feet to the summit. But it’s nothing compared to his best time. Tajima, who has won Pikes Peak five consecutive times, set the all-time record in 2007 when he made the run in 10:1.4 seconds.
