Are you and your car a good match?
I never would have gone out and shopped for a Saleen Mustang -- I came by it because I co-signed the loan for my son and once he went into the Marines, we all realized that he couldn't afford it. I started driving it while he was in boot camp and sold my Lexus ES300 (the glorified Camry model.) I've always liked Mustangs and always wanted a convertible but I don't think I would have purposely bought THAT MUCH Mustang!

However, I have fallen in love with this car and even though Mustang has a new convertible, Toyota has a new Solara convertible, etc., I find that I don't like any of them better than my Saleen. People are always "vroom-vrooming" me when they pass me -- I figure they aren't expecting an almost 50-year-old math teacher and mom driving it. :D I teach at a community college and each semester, word gets out that I'm the one with the Saleen. It really helps my "cool factor" with my students, especially the guys. (I'm not saying the car elevates me all the way to "cool;" it just helps get me a notch or two above "nerdy math teacher." ;)

So while my car and I may not seem like a good match to others, for me, it fits me perfectly! How about you?

1. I Was Practical When I Bought My Chevy S10
It was one year old with only 7,000 miles on the odometer, and since my Suzuki Swift had just died, I needed transportation. With two dogs to carry and stuff that always seems to need hauling (the joys on home ownership), it's just the right size. And it's comfortable on trips - the bench seat provides plenty of room for me and The Princess (my wife - another DUer).

The only regret I have is not getting an extended cab - that would provide a bit more room for traveling. Oh well, maybe next time....

Unfortunately, the only picture I have of it shows my Chevy covered with fresh Colorado snow.

2. Necessity! Good point!
When I had a house full of kids, I drove a 92 Ford E-150 -- the fullsize conversion van. We drove it for eight years and it was a good match at that time of my life, though it was a match for my lifestyle and not necessarily my personality. I'd like to think I have more of a Saleen than Econoline personality! ;)

4. Nice car - good for you buying what you like
I love my '04 G35. It's fast, handles great, is a bit understated but really classy. People shouldn't be afraid to buy a car that they fall in love with - as ong as it's not a Buick. Hope you enjoy it.
