Anyone here have a Chevy Astro van with power window
problems? Our windows go down but only half way up. Further coaching will bring them up in one inch spurts then the final jump of 3 inches. I feel we are about to lose the power all together. How did you address this. Is it a motor or switch problem? A do-it-yourself job? The Astro is a 1999 and seems to be prone to all kinds of bugs.

1. Guessing, the guides/tracks are worn.
If so, remove interior door panel, remove & replace worn parts.
Astro's are known for going 250,000+ miles, as long as your front end, engine & tranny are in good shape its likely worth the cost of the repair. It took 8 yrs for them to wear out, new parts might take another 8 yrs to wear out.

When you say "Further coaching", is that as you hold down the switch to raise the window, and coach the glass up with your hands at the same time? If thats what you are doing, my guess are the tracks or guides, maybe a "rub strip" is worn, basically 2 screws holding a piece of plastic. But not the switch or motor.

A do-it-yourself job? maybe. You would need a specialized tool for dealing with interior panels, plus it might be worth it to buy a manual, for 30 or so bucks you get invaluable info on how to proceed with many of those nagging little repairs.
