Cool Trick: Want your own auto-link submiter in Blogger?

Hi,

I figured out a really smart way to create an automatic link submitter using your BlogSpot.com comment atom feed and Feedburner. Nothing to buy. No scripts to download.

I'll outline the steps below for anyone interested. And, if you want to see a working example, PM me for a link to my site.

Note: This will be a very basic explanation...You can add whatever details you want to make it easier for your link partners. Don't be scared of all the steps. They are really simple to follow steps.

This was done in Blogger and I don't know if it would work in WordPress.

Step 1: Create a new post in Blogger and grab any of the free email form codes available online. I used FoxyForm.com.

Step 2: Create your contact form and paste the code for it into the post. This is the form your link exchange partners will submit the page url they put your link on so you can check it later and confirm they added your site link to their page.

Step 3: In the post, ask your potential link exchange partners to leave a comment exactly like the example in blue below:

<a href="http://yoursite.com">http://yoursite.com</a> <--- I broke the closing tag so you can see it.

Note: Make clear in the post they are only to use the comment feature under that post for adding links. Nothing else. Also make clear any extra words or comments will just mess up the feed later and will be deleted.

Step 4: Click "Publish Post"

Step 5: View the post and scroll down to the bottom where it says "Subscribe to post comments (Atom)". Click on that and copy the comments atom feed url.

Step 6: Go to RssInclude.com, sign up (free) and create a new feed.

Step 7: Create & Customize a new feed with the comments atom feed url you copied.

Step 8: Copy the resulting code for the feed.

Step 9: Now go back to Blogger and create a new static page. (NOT a new post. A new PAGE). I entitled mine "Friends" but you can call it "Links", "Partners" whatever you want.

Step 10: Now paste the feed code into the text editor and click "Publish Page". For the time being, click "No Gadget" on the next page.

Step 11: Now go to the post you created in step 2 and leave a text comment exactly like this:

<a href="http://yoursite.com">http://yoursite.com</ a> <--- I broke the closing tag so you can see it.

Your link will automatically be clickable on your links page in minutes to a few hours. Check your links page later in the day and your link will be there if you followed the directions correctly.

PM me for a working example.

And that's how you create your own automatic link exchanger in Blogger with no downloading of scripts and no messy software.

Note: RssInclude.com only allows 10 items per feed. So when I reach more that ten link exchanges, older links will start dropping from the link list. You have to pay to get unlimited items in the feed. But there may be other free rss feed generators out the that don't impose a limit. Also, you get up to ten separate feeds for free at rss include, so you can just submit the same feed url as a separate feed there and paste the code for that feed in the same links page.
