A mother and her 9-month-old daughter with South Shore roots were found murdered in the same bed in Hopkinton.
A single small-caliber bullet appears to have killed Rachel Entwistle, 27, and her daughter, Lillian.
Investigators are trying to find Rachel’s husband, Neil Entwistle, 27, who has been away from his family’s Hopkinton home since at least Friday.
Maureen Renaud of Plymouth, a friend of Rachel Entwistle’s, said that the family moved from Carver to Hopkinton within the past two weeks.
‘‘She was a very, very good mother. Very devoted,’’ Renaud said.
Rachel Entwistle, whose maiden name was Souza, lived in Kingston and graduated in 1997 from Silver Lake Regional High School, where she was an honors student.
‘‘We remember her very well,’’ Silver Lake Principal Richard Kelley said today. ‘‘She was a stalwart on the track team. She was a good student, a very kind, caring person, a model school citizen..."
