Police say the only thing stopping them from calling Hugo Martinez a SERIAL KILLER is the fact that his third victim survived


"Hugo Martinez killed two women in six weeks and attacked a third, police said, and he would have killed again if they hadn't caught him.

He would get high on crack. Then he'd explode at the woman he was with - beat her, choke her and sometimes worse, police said. Within a six-week period, two women were fatally attacked. A third lived to identify her attacker, police said yesterday, as a pretrial hearing for Martinez, who is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, began in Nassau County Court.

Police say the only thing stopping them from calling Martinez, 26, a serial killer is the fact that his third victim survived and they caught him before there was a fourth. State law defines a serial killer as one who kills at least three people in a similar fashion within two years."

It's interesting that they stop short of calling him a serial killer because I would say he is/was. I understand about the State law, but I thought it was something to think about.

Once someone starts killing and gets away with it, they keep on doing it for the thrill it seems. Who knows how many women he may have killed?
