Anyone been following the Caylee Anthony case?
The little girl missing in Florida and her mother didn't report it for over a month. It's one whacked-out situation.

1. Hi johnnie
:hi:

I'm back after taking a break from DU. I've not been following this story, just hearing snippets about it here and there on TV as I flip thru the channels.

I will read up on it.

3. is this the one where the mother has been incarcerated for a time?
and won't reveal anything, other than to say that she believes her daughter is 'safe' somewhere?? If so, last week, some bounty hunter guy was on 'Good Morning America' having posted bond for this gal, saying it was only gonna take him a week to 'solve' this case! we'll see-

4. Someone just posted bail for her
I think it was a $500,000 bail. I guess the local police are stalled until they come up with some physical evidence, or the body :-(.

6. so sad -- yesterday's identification of Caylee
at least the identification will give her family closure. IMHO, I think that whole household is pretty messed up, but at least they have this question answered.

7. I wonder why the grandparents wanted immunity?
What are some reasons, other than they knew something bad happened and were trying to cover for their daughter (or son)?

Then there is the mysterious plastic bag found by the meter reader in August!! Was it the same bag holding Caylee's remains? These are details that haven't been offered yet....if it was the same bag, why couldn't the police find it in August?

This is going to be an interesting trial. I'm glad the family has closure now, but the holidays will never be the same for them.....

8. Wow. I hadn't heard that the parents wanted immunity.
that is truly stunning. Why on earth would you want immunity, but that you either helped commit/cover-up/or not share all you knew with the authorities? Maybe the whole bunch of 'em are liars.

I had heard that Casey (the mom of Caylee) used to like to go 'party' in those same woods where Caylee was found, when she was a teenager. This was shared by her 'best friend' who used to go there with her when they were in high-school. So, it seems to me, that that area was familiar to her.

9. I know. It's strange. Maybe the grandparents suspected something was
wrong when they realized things were missing from their house, but were in denial until now . The police took lots of evidence bags from that home and the grandfather is a retired detective (I think). He had to have known something was wrong.

10. my husband's take on it
Is that after the mother reported her daughter to police, it became very apparent what happened.

The parents were now afraid that not only their granddaughter was gone, their daughter would also be taken from them.

The parents then help their daughter in ways that could have been viewed as obstructing the law. And that's why they're asking for immunity.

11. that makes a LOT of sense, NJCher
I think the Dad, in particular, knows and realizes what was going on. I think that Casey's mom has been blinded for some time about her daughter's personality.

12. Caylee's Grandfather Hospitalized For Psychiatric Evaluation

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daytona Beach police have confirmed that George Anthony, Caylee Anthony's grandfather, was found in a Daytona Beach motel at about 1 a.m. Friday with suicide notes.

Police said he had not harmed himself, but he was Baker-Acted and taken to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. He was undergoing psychiatric evaluation.

13. I heard about this...
I just can't believe what this poor man has been through. His wife, to me, seems nuts, and we're not even going to talk about his daughter. I think they've both put him through the wringer.

I saw an interview on CNN this weekend about him, saying that he used to pull Caylee around the neighborhood in her little red wagon, and he was one proud grandpa. I think he is totally distraught over the thought that his daughter killed his granddaughter. I also think his wife's antics and all the constant media coverage have pushed the man over the edge.

14. This case is getting stranger and stranger
I can only take watching Nancy Grace in small bits, but did anyone else see that the brother Lee may be Caylee's father?!?!

One of two things, either the mother truly does not know who the father might be due to multiple boyfriends.....or she is too embarrassed to admit the incest.

Something is not right here.

16. Totally debunked by the release of documents several months ago.
Lee is definitely not the father.
