one of the most memorable books I ever read is "The Only Living Witness",
interviews with Ted Bundy - it's really fascinating and simultaneously repellent. Very hard to read at times.

I worked in counseling and in a mental hospital, and among my "clients" were murderers, molesters, etc. Bundy is really a textbook case, and the interviews reveal a little more of him than he wants at times.

Thanks for starting this forum, and for the heads up.

1. Welcome!
Yes, I have read this and pretty much all the books on Bundy. I was a kid growing up in Miami when his trial was held at the Miami-Dade courthouse.

3. I read that years ago.
You are right. It was a compelling book that stayed with me over the years.

4. I always remember the story he told about picking up a female hitcher in the '70's
and having sex with her in an empty house, all the while filpping a mental coin deciding whether or not to kill her. He decided not to.
He said something like somewhere there is a former hippy grandmother who has no idea how close she came....

5. will check that out
I've read a lot about Ted Bundy. It still fascinates me how much he and bush look alike.

Mark, have you read Hare? When you say Bundy is a textbook case, do you mean from the findings of Hare about sociopaths?

6. I may have - I studied sociology and social work in college, not too much
psychology. Worked in prison, drug treatment and MR, finally in a mental hospital. Not really what I had evvisioned but seldom boring.
I'm interested, though, and I will certainly persue Hare.
Bush and Bundy share certain traits, too - the ability to create complete fantasies and have people believe them, the lack of empathy and regard for other humans.
Sounds like a lot of people I worked for, too...

Thanks.

I've read a theory that Dubya was chosen to be a Republican Golden Boy AFTER "Theodore" kind of wrecked his own chances.

7. Bundy is the quintessential serial killer. My favorite Bundy book is this one.
But the one with interviews is "Ted Bundy: Conversations With a Killer."
