Dallas-area mayor, teen daughter are shot dead

COPPELL, Texas – The mayor of a small city near Dallas and her teenage daughter have been found shot to death at their home, city officials said Wednesday.

Police discovered the bodies of Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters, 55, and Corrine Peters, 19, around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, community information officer Sharon Logan said. Police found no signs of forced entry, Logan said.

"It appears that both suffered gunshot wounds to the head," said Logan.

Police officers went to their home after the usually prompt mayor failed to arrive at a city council meeting and did not call to explain her absence, Logan said.

I hope 48 Hours or another show does a piece on this.

My guess is the murders have nothing to do with her being the mayor.

2. Police are investigating it as a possible murder-suicide, according to the Dallas Morning News.

However, as some of the comments at that article say, woman don’t USUALLY shoot themselves or other people in the head.
