Slain Doctor was amending his will
This is the Dr. Gulam Moonda story.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05159/517845.stm

(snipped to this section)

Moonda, 69, wrote his first will in 1992. That document went through probate in Mercer County, where he lived and practiced medicine. It specified that his wife, Donna, would receive 20 percent of his estate. Police estimate the amount at $1.2 million. He also left her their opulent home in Sharpsville.

So the wife would have inherited about $250,000 from the original will and apparently a really nice home.

Should be an interesting case to follow.

1. It's a real interesting story.
From the press stories here, Dr. Moonda was really a great guy. And apparently so was his wife, at least until the drug problems developed.

Here's a more in-depth story from Sunday's Post-Gazette:

6. She would do a great job!
I love her books. Did you know that her father was a coach up at Slippery Rock College years ago? She lived up there for a few years as a child. So she has a Pennsylvania connection.

Maybe I will write her with this story for an idea. I'm sure she gets swamped with ideas though :-).

7. I did not know that! That's so interesting!
If you're going to send her the story, do it soon. She needs to have time to get background info, and she always likes to get in on the story before the trial begins. I know this because I used to be on her newsletter mailing list - she really is great, isn't she?

8. this is tragic
What a good guy he was. Sounds like he was a good Dem, too:

A man of strong opinions, Moonda would discuss everything from the latest hospital intrigue to his admiration for Hillary Clinton to his ire over tax cuts for rich people, including himself, who he felt should be paying more.
