2. For true crime people...

Cullen Davis was a Texas millionaire who allegedly shot and wounded his estranged wife, killed her lover, shot a young man and paralyzed him, and murdered the 12-year-old daughter of his estranged wife.

He also chased a teenage girl with a gun (date of the paralyzed young man), but she was not wounded. Despite the eyewitnesses to these horrific crimes, Cullen Davis was found not guilty. A fascinating story. There was a made-for-TV movie made with Heather Locklear as Priscilla Davis and Peter Strauss as Cullen Davis.

Robert Durst is an even more fascinating guy. He is the son of New York real estate billionaires who allegedly murdered HIS estranged wife. No charges were ever brought in that case, although I understand the NY cops may now be looking into that one.

Then, Durst's "best friend" Susan Berman (daughter of a legendary underworld figure) was shot in the back by someone. It appears she may have provided a telephone alibi for Bob Durst the day after his wife disappeared in NY.

Berman was a down-on-her-luck writer who became a recluse. Durst would throw her large amounts of money from time to time to pay off her debts. Whoever shot her she had let into her home and turned her back on. Some think Durst killed her because she knew too much about his wife's missing status.

Anyway, DeGuerin comes into this when he got Durst off of killing an eccentric, elderly neighbor in Galveston, TX. Amazing story.

PS-Durst's first wife's body was never found (yet).

Durst:

Davis:

There's a LOT more out there and several books on these two cases. DeGeurin must be an amazing attorney, especially to get Durst off in Texas.

5. DeGuerin also represented one of the defendants in the Lake Waco murders..
and, once again, got his client off.
Carlton Stowers' "Careless Whispers" is an excellent account of the case.
