1. For the record, Keith gave a killer introduction.
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 10:04 AM by BerryBush
He's also in Boss Hijack pinstripes and a stripey blue shirt, and a flattering stripey blue tie--cool!

But his makeup is red and his ears are pink, and you can see age spots on his forehead.

I think this thing made him old.

I've got 'em. Had a few since my 20's actually. I'm going later to the salon to have my face sanded off a 3rd round of microdermabrasion.

Good to see her. I just hope Pat Buchanan doesn't spend all his time railing about how she HAS to be VP on the ticket.

Eugene Robinson says she better avoid talking about "hard-working white voters" or "I won the states we need to win."

to make her case for being VP. :puke:

But he's right, she needs to be sincere. Not fake jolly.

Just learned that Broadcaster Jim McKay passed away. I grew up watching "Wide World of Sports". Who can forget the arm wrestling tournaments and the cliff diving competitions. R.I.P Mr. Jim McKay.

9. Hi Pats!
:hi: Oh, dear, Jim McKay died? I don't know how Keith will be able to avoid mentioning that--it makes no sense for him to unless he says "As a sportscaster..."

I mean, Jim is a legend. One thing I'll never be able to forget, and I doubt Keith will, is how well he handled switching from sportscaster to newscaster in Munich in '72, when he had no choice. Jim showed Keith how it's done.

"They're all gone."

11. And no, I will never forget the wristwrestling and cliff diving either.
Nor an event I was able to watch that he was covering, and seeing how it seemed like every two seconds he was being brought something from the concession stand. Still remember seeing him eating an ice cream bar when not on the air.

It really is the end of an era.

It was on CNN. RIP, Jim. :(

Why doesn't anyone take into account the fact that the Clintons never liked the media -- in fact, they showed contempt for them most of the time? Does no one remember that in the beginning Hillary's people wouldn't even show up when asked? Or that Hillary never showed up on any progressive radio show?

Just asking.

before Super Tuesday, they were nowhere to be found. After they realized they needed to fight, surrogates showed up on some shows, but she herself never showed up even though she was invited.

Bill was also on Rush's show. Still not sure what that was about.

But thanks for the link--that's hilarious--I had no idea there were Tombstone Pizza vending machines!

I hope he got extra toppings on his. They were so richly deserved.

You should look up yesterday's thread. It was hilarious too. People said they weren't going to say kaddish for him.

There was also a pretty funny thread yesterday morning in which some of us buzzards were circling, saying he was soon to bite the dust and referring to him obliquely, that was pretty funny too.

32. And let me just say one thing: Fuck the Race for the Cure.
Anything labeled "for the Cure" (tm) that has to do with breast cancer just puts more money into an already wealthy organization, Susan G. Komen, run by Bush Pioneer Nancy Brinker, whose main interest is in keeping Big Pharma well funded so they can continue to come up with treatments for breast cancer rather than actually curing it or preventing it in the first place.

There's BIG money to be made from breast cancer, and Nancy makes sure her Big Pharma Bush-lovin' friends don't miss a dime of it.

Don't get me wrong, we need pharmaceutical companies. We just don't need their astronomical profits. And we don't need them to be more focused on treatment than cures.

Remember the first time MSNBC covered a Repug debate? They thought Keith was in the bag for them because he said they were marching in and it was kind of a royal procession and a big contrast from how the Dems looked when they walked into theirs. They said this was proof that Keith preferred them to the Dems--when all he was doing was OBSERVING and DESCRIBING.

Oh well, she's now learned there's no Disneyland in Harrisburg.

70. OK, she can have this, but if she really does make a pitch for money first
before switching to Obama, she's the worst of the worst.

And she can tell these stories of those who voted for her and why but now she's got to convince all these people she "fought" for that someone else can "fight" for them just as well.

110. ahem...
While it is true that there is no Disneyland in Harrisburg, I feel I need to point out that there IS a Hershey Park in Hershey, just a mere 20 miles east of Harrisburg. I have a niece who tells me so. :)

Sorry I missed the fun... I was doing the bulletin.

after the tour of the factory. And don't forget the Hershey Kiss street lights in Hershey. lol

Hit and run since I have no idea how long the cable will stay on. Plus I have to transplant some seedlings so that they can go into the garden when it cools off.

Speaking of cable...the Belmont starts in a while and MY cable isn't working. It's weirdo-rama...the PBS stations work, the cable channels are all on, but the Big Four Networks are AWOL. Dark.

113. I know that.
In fact, I was able to make good use of that knowledge once, to tell someone off. Long story.

And I have a metal canister that looks like its carousel sitting on my desk at work. Empty Kisses canister.

But I doubt this poor girl ever made it to Hershey Park. Nah, she spent all her time pounding the drum for Hill. And, I guess, learned a valuable lesson in the process. To quote the Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need."

Sorry about you having to do that bulletin. Stinks. :-(

88. I think this is her way of saying "Don't give up on the dream of a woman pres"
but at the same time, it's almost like she's laying the groundwork to say "I'll be back in 2012" without saying it overtly or having to make a promise.

I bet that's how she herself was mollified. "Hillary Is 45!"

"I won't say it outright today...but look for me in four years, after Obama makes a mess of things, 'cause I'll be back!!!!"

89. Hillary, it's a home run.
Thanks for doing this; even if it was a few days late, it's right on target. And no matter what I think about how she's handled this campaign (or what I think about how she's been "handled") she has absolutely made strides towards the acceptance of a future female president. For that, I will always be grateful.

96. Yes, I will be kind today.
Even if I suspect she's trying to lay the groundwork for herself as that first woman pres yet again, I will be kind to her today. She had to give up on a dream, and that's hard.

She never said anything today other than what was right. And I hope she does everything she can to pull T-Shirt Woman into line. You know, as Keith said, "Make no mistake, I'm here to support Hillary Clinton, not BHO/DNC" etc."

109. I am very glad she did this. I won't respect her or Bill again either, though.
I will respect the difficulty she must have had facing this day, though. And I will hope that she does everything within her power to truly support Obama and, moreover, to get her SUPPORTERS to. I will pray that it's not all being done with the idea in mind that he will bollix things up somewhere along the campaign and she can step in to save the day, or that he will botch his presidency and then she can come in for 2012 saying "Things didn't work out so well, huh?"

I guess only time will tell.

Yes, that was the other connection that made a mention of Jim McKay logical--his son's running their news division.

Classy, Keith.
