Believe me, I was very happy to get home yesterday. My friend and I hid in the bathroom in our hotel room when the sirens were going off Saturday night. Then they came and knocked on our door at about 11 after the worst of it was over and asked us to go to the lobby. Of course, I was all ready for bed by then! And the lobby was not a good place to be if a tornado came through -- all glass on both sides and wide open.

And there are others who normally do pay attention to things outside themselves, who suddenly find that they are so buried in debt or other problems, they can't even lift their heads to look around.

It was so weird. I was working at the time on the top floor of a building in downtown Rochester with a nice view of the city. I remember looking out and thinking "Oh, this can't be.
