From The New York Times:
No Time Off for Olbermann
By BRIAN STELTER; Compiled by BEN SISARIO Published: June 12, 2008
Keith Olbermann, below, the host of “Countdown” on MSNBC, canceled his time off this week when it appeared likely that he would score a ratings victory over his competition at the Fox News Channel once last week’s numbers were tallied. Sure enough, with an average of 477,000 viewers in the 25-to-54 demographic, he beat Fox’s “O’Reilly Factor” by 5,000, according to Nielsen — a first in the five-year history of “Countdown.” (As usual, however, Bill O’Reilly had about twice as many total viewers, and on the three days the two hosts went head to head the Fox host won among the demographic.) Hoping to win a second week, Mr. Olbermann, who has engaged in increasingly bitter mudslinging with Mr. O’Reilly, has delayed his vacation indefinitely.
