TV Guide has named MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann one of their "Best Bets For Summer." In the July 3 issue, they say: "The Best Way To Keep News From Getting You Down: Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Not as glib as The Daily Show but hipper than the evening news, MSNBC's daily news hour manages to do the impossible: Take its information seriously, but not itself. What other news show would dare mix hard-hitting investigative stories about presidential voting irregularities with features like a stick-puppet reenactment of the Michael Jackson trial?"

5. I'm so glad someone in the MSM is paying attention.

I'm getting a bit weary of all the praise for Jon Stewart and the Daily Show. (Did I just say that??) It just seems that some of it has been coming at Keith's expense. As in, people seem to be paying attention to only three kinds of "news" reporters out there:

1. anchors at the big 3 networks
2. right-wing-nut and otherwise-nutty cable news anchors
3. Jon Stewart

After a while it gets kinda annoying. I keep wanting to ask "DOESN'T ANYONE BUT US WATCH KEITH???"

11. Speaking of talk show guesting....

Conan had Anderson Cooper on ! And I do like Anderson, even if he is CNN...pretty fair and balanced, imho...Why not Keith? Coney's NBC too, and I adore him! Though Keith came across shy/and/or the Leno (NBC!) audience just didn't 'get' his serious wit? KO would be more appreciated by a Letterman audience, who appreciate puppet theater type humor :)

Oh well, I'd love to be KO's booking agent :bounce:

12. Keith has an amazing poker face, when he feels like using it.

he was snarky as hell on Leno but he didn't mug for the audience in the way that some comedians do so I'm not sure they knew he was joking. If you paid close attention to what he was saying, it was great stuff, though.

defined Keith as someone who "does comedy."

I mean, yeah, they've defined him as a funny sportscaster, a funny newscaster, but not really as someone who "does comedy" per se.

I think he might actually be a little surprised to see that.
