but I realize that he doesn't have to work as hard to win most of us over. Besides, we're not the gold. Working parents are the gold.

Keith's objection, which I recall him and Dan Patrick making mention of in their book: he doesn't think people addressing a group should acknowledge that they are addressing a group. He thinks you should talk to groups of people as if you're one-on-one with them in the same room, and so does Dan. They never used to say "Good evening, everyone" on SportsCenter because they wanted each viewer to feel like their only viewer. You can see Keith is the same with Countdown, and it's magic. How many times has he referred to "you and me" or "you and I" and made you feel as if he was talking just to you? And then, of course, there was the snuggle up to the screen, crooked finger and "C'mere..."

And HAVA is a huge problem in making prgress. Those Dems who try to repeal/overthrow/amend it are castigated by disability rights groups. The Rs certainly knew what they were putting in place, shunting off all these voters to "provisional ballots." And the Dems went right along. And now, folks that Dems are normally allied with don't want to change it because they like the electronic machines and the independence they bring. I think it would be easy enough to overhaul the whole thing and protect people with disabilities by ensuring that each precinct had an electronic machine for those who wanted to use it.

By the way, I am taking to the streets on Nov. 5 if this election gets stolen. I don't care if I am a protest/march/riot of one. I am taking to the streets. No Gore/Kerry going quietly here.

I've donated to BlackBoxVoting.org (but I can't donate enough to, you know, make a difference). And I volunteered to do Election Protection. But that doesn't help all that much. If someone has been caged, EP volunteers can't do all that much because they can remove you from the polling station in most states. Besides, in 2006, the DCCC's Election Protection materials didn't even get the law right (I was working in CT that year). I had to look up the law on my own and correct everyone on the proper procedure mid-day on election day. That doesn't make me very confident for this year.

I guess we can talk, vote, educate, volunteer, and, uh, worry till it is over. :yoiks:

I just watched Obama's infomercial on You Tube and it was brilliant... It should put him over the top easily. But being the cynic that I am, I still wouldn't trust the Pukes not to try and steal a third election.

Wrapping things up here. I can't believe my 6 week holiday is almost over, but I'm really looking forward to getting home to Chicago Monday night, voting on Tuesday and seeing Mr. Wonderful.

I've been toying with the idea of going down to Grant Park on Tuesday night. They're not letting anyone in until 4:30 pm and you have to have a ticket to get in, but to be there, maybe and see history being made, is awfully tempting.

All I know is that if Barack wins on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, I'll be thinking about how proud my father would be that the American people had the common sense to elect him. Daddy made me the Democrat I am and I'm forever grateful for all those long conversations we had in the 1970's and 1980's about politics.

Well, I'm off to bed. It's rather late here and I'm going to Belfast again tomorrow afternoon. Have to take some pictures and do some more shopping.

no one was on the arena floor except that small group of people up front, in a barricade shell, and the rest was filled with local and national media. But there were people all the way up in the 400 sections.

That's zoomed in, but for a stadium, I was relatively close. It was a lot of fun.

There were some scary people out there way back when and they all hated Mousetown. Guess some got a bit of education and learn how to make money off them. I rarely go out toward all that crap when I go visit dad etc. I hate Disney as only anyone forced to go a few hundred times (seemed like it)a year could.
