Anyone else notice that NBC was NBC and MSNBC was MSNBC and neither the twain shall meet?? Unlike other times, when a big deal was made about how important it was for MSNBC to have visits from the Mothership to cement its advantage over other news channels, and we listened to Williams yammer and Brokaw ahemamahaw all night long? No more!!
Looks as if Someone (Mr. Brokaw????) has decided that it's best for the stars of NBC News not to be "tainted" by spending time with their redheaded bastard cousins over at MSNBC...betcha they wish they could banish 'em all back to Secaucus!!!! Too late now!!!!
Yet, despite all that...Boss Hijack Gregory allows Keith the honor of calling the election...how in the heck did that happen?!?!?
Not to mention, aside from Tweety's snarky lie about Obama going back on his funding promise and Keith trying to correct it, everyone was the soul of civility all night long. Keith said so many complimentary things about Joe Scarborough and the odious Mike Murphy (who actually behaved last night) that he sounded like Chip 'n' Dale. "Joe made an excellent point..." "You may have something there, Mike..." It was like he was bending over backwards to prove he's not the arrogant asshat everyone's trying to make him out to be, whose behavior supposedly contributed to Brokaw's "I don't want to be poisoned by the taint of MSNBC anymore" attitude.
In fact, no one got on my nerves seriously last night--aside from the completely outrageous jail-them-don't interview-them Ken Blackwell and Tom DeLay, who should not have been there at all--after they apparently had Pat Buchanan go to bed early so he wouldn't 'splode. Chuck Todd tried mightily to make it sound like a horse race, which was distressing, but after a while even he couldn't dress it up. Sorry, Chuck. This isn't gonna be 2000 again. Thank God.
I'm just glad it's over.
