I know I was overwhelmed myself by the boys reaction. My SIL called me this morning to tell me about it. One other thing, my grand-niece in Ireland, Rianna who is 4 years old and absolutely gorgeous, was watching coverage of the rally in Grant Park, and she told her grandmother, my SIL, that she saw me in the crowd.

I wasn't at Grant Park, too jetlagged, but Rianna putting Grant Park, Chicago, and me together was something else. Kids today are so much smarter that we were. She's a hoot altogether. She has an English accent and everyone is wondering where she picked that up. Probably from watching TV. She's too funny.

I was the Sr. person watching a poll in an inner city precinct for the Obama campaign.

Obama's team had people on the outside watching, GOTV workers, and 2 hour data
reports still we did have glitches.

The voting machine did not get going for 1.5 hours after the poll opened.

The poll judge drove off and left the poll sachel w/ the prints, log books,
memory cards, and other data in the parking lot. I drove it to the BOE
myself and had a cop and two people a repub & dem take it from my truck.

We had a 9% undervote on the EES machines .... 9% of all voters who used the
machines had no votes recorded @ all. I am willing to bet across the country
where ees i-votronic machines were used many places had "magical undervotes"
i.e. Georgia, Minnesota, and so on.

And the best person the BOE had working at the precinct until they sent out
somebody else was a 17 year old girl.

Try being the only "white face" in an inner city precinct poll when the machines
don't work and 100+ blacks have lined up @ 5:30 to vote @ 6:30 when the polls
open and they know they got screwed in 2004.

A woman who moved with her boyfriend from Columbus to Solon had to fight for her right to vote with a real ballot, according to the Plain Dealer. She hadn't changed her driver's license to the new address yet, and they tried to force a provisional ballot on her because the address on her license was for Columbus and she was trying to vote in Solon. This is the kind of crap they pull! :grr: Luckily, she would hear none of it and demanded election protection assistance. Finally she got a real ballot above the protests and refusals of the poll workers who were trying to deny her one.
