Some nice news: Keith's ratings beat Nancy Grace's on Thursday.
Which, I would like to think, shows that when people need to watch serious news about serious issues, more would rather turn to Keith than to Ms. Objectionable.

1. or, when people's nerves are already frazzled and they
simply want the straight facts without a lot of shrill hyperbole, they know where NOT to go...

2. That's for sure.
Nancy is probably blaming Michael Jackson for the bombings. "He's a child molester AND a terrorist! Guilty, guilty, guilty!"

3. I would suspect
that listening to "you're ALL GUILTY" for an hour would get rather
:boring:

I think on Thursday, people wanted to be informed instead of being entertained. Hopefully, those who tuned in for the first time on Thursday came back for Friday to see that you can get both in one place: Countdown. :)

4. and he's reassuring, too
not that he sugarcoats the bad things, but for me, it's reassuring to know what the bad things are -- to have them neither overstated nor minimized. He tries to put things in perspective. Far too many "news" anchors seem to be doing their utmost to distort the perspective.

5. That's the way Walter Cronkite was seen during the Viet Nam War, as
reporting the news not politicizing it. When Cronkite went to Viet Nam for a first hand look his reporting was so devestating it shook people and LBJ reportedly said, "If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost America." Name any of the current crop of tv and radio screamers with that much influence.

7. actually, Cronkite did come to mind as I was typing that
I have that level of trust for KO's reporting; he just doesn't have that level of exposure yet. (And the race is on to see which KOEBer will be the first to leap on the word "exposure". My money is on Berry, although Crispini and the bad Rev are also hot favorites.)

8. Some of us actually practice restraint.
Then again, some of us haven't gotten our hands on Keith yet, so his exposure, we hope, is limited. :loveya:

13. I can vouch for the Rev. She really, really DOES practice restraint.
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 05:56 PM by BerryBush
And she's gonna keep ON practicing until she gets it right.

Trouble is, as she says, she hasn't yet been successful in securing Keith as a guinea pig, so she's been forced to resort to alternatives.

I have heard that men of a certain age, grayness of hair, tallness of height, portliness of tummy and dimness of vision have been disappearing from public places in Wisconsin at an alarming rate.

on edit: Not to mention caterpillariness of eyebrow, hairiness of wrist and bowiness of upper lip. Oh, and with really large feet, too.
