I've never really liked January that much, too cold, but now, it seems like the perfect month.

The Dolphins don't make you cry.

As for the Browns and the Lions, however...

131. Keith always makes mention of the Browns not being too good.
He was having a field day last night laughing about their quarterback problems. Said our latest, Dorsey, was the least known of the bandleading Dorsey brothers.

I was at my brother's house for dinner and I didn't see the score until after the Redskins lost to NY (my SIL is a serious Skins fan and she was obviously not happy). Now it's the Ravens turn to pound them into the ground next Sunday, LOL!

and I was not happy. But at least I only saw the horror in highlights. I have no doubt you will beat 'em. They're not very good this year, but they're better than I thought they would be with a new coach. Just like the Dolphins!

I don't think it'll be a high scoring game, but the one match up I'm worried about is when we play Dallas on the 20th. That could be pretty ugly! :scared:

75. You're welcome, hon.
I know what's it like losing a family pet. I haven't had a pet in almost 25 years. We had two dogs (a German Shepherd and a terrier mix) and one night in 84 they ran out of our back yard and never came back. My parents got word that one of them was run over on the Beltway and the other one disappeared was never seen again. That was very hard for me to deal with.

82. That sounds awful. You never forget that sadness if you've loved a pet.
Its so unfair that they're life span is so much shorter than ours. I learned quite a bit about how I'd like to be if I ever become ill from my little animal. Her dignity and grace and patience under extreme stress of her condition was admirable and touching.

80. Just like 9/11 bush was warned
Per AP: Bush was warned about mortgage meltdown in 2006.Under pressure from banks halted regulation

AP IMPACT: They warned us, but US eased loan rules

By MATT APUZZO
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Bush administration backed off proposed crackdowns on no-money-down, interest-only mortgages years before the economy collapsed, buckling to pressure from some of the same banks that have now failed. It ignored remarkably prescient warnings that foretold the financial meltdown, according to an Associated Press review of regulatory documents.

"Expect fallout, expect foreclosures, expect horror stories," California mortgage lender Paris Welch wrote to U.S. regulators in January 2006, about one year before the housing implosion cost her a job.

Bowing to aggressive lobbying - along with assurances from banks that the troubled mortgages were OK - regulators delayed action for nearly one year. By the time new rules were released late in 2006, the toughest of the proposed provisions were gone and the meltdown was under way.

...

In 2005, faced with ominous signs the housing market was in jeopardy, bank regulators proposed new guidelines for banks writing risky loans. Today, in the midst of the worst housing recession in a generation, the proposal reads like a list of what-ifs:

-Regulators told bankers exotic mortgages were often inappropriate for buyers with bad credit.

-Banks would have been required to increase efforts to verify that buyers actually had jobs and could afford houses.

-Regulators proposed a cap on risky mortgages so a string of defaults wouldn't be crippling.

-Banks that bundled and sold mortgages were told to be sure investors knew exactly what they were buying.

-Regulators urged banks to help buyers make responsible decisions and clearly advise them that interest rates might skyrocket and huge payments might be due sooner than expected.

Those proposals all were stripped from the final rules. None required congressional approval or the president's signature.
