An update...
Well finally got Terry home from the Cleveland area and Parma Hospital. The man was obviously feeling neglected and tried to have a heart attack Thanksgiving night/Black Friday morning. His lifetime diet didn't help.

If he hadn't been driving 80,000 pounds of potential death they might of sent him home after all the tests came back fine or maybe they really are that good at Parma Hospital and keep everyone that has good test results but something just doesn't seem right. Not sure which is the one that made them decide to keep him or if both were a part of it but keep him they did.

After further test he had angioplasty and 2 stents placed in his arteries Friday morning. Major blockages there. I saw the pictures and have no idea how any blood made it to his heart. (I have been telling him for years he was a heart attack waiting to happen.) They kept him in the Cardiovascular Center until Monday then released him to a hotel. They wanted him to stay in the area until today in case of complications.

He seems to be doing well now and no one is sure if he did or didn't have an actual heart attack but there is no damage to the heart muscle. (VERY good news!) He was smart enough to not mess around and called 911 instead of waiting to see if he would feel better. Great ambulance crew, doctors, nurses and staff that didn't mess around or take chances too.

He has to see our regular doctor here then we can get him a local cardiologist and cardiac rehabilitation. I am insisting on Cardiac rehabilitation whether he likes it or not. He might drive me nuts sometimes but I am too old to train another one. Besides I would miss him.

I go Monday to see when they are going to take this screw out of my foot and hopefully find out when I can start walking again. It has been 14 weeks too long of being wheel chair bound in a very none wheel chair house. I even broke down and read the first two Twilight books and waiting for the next two now. They aren't too bad though I don't see myself bothering with the movie.

1. I am so glad he had no heart muscle damage...
that's the main thing. Putting a man on a low fat diet before Christmas? My sympathies! Dieticians are wonderful people, let them do the heavy lifting. :grouphug:

2. Hoping it scared him
enough to make it easier. Definitely letting the dietitian, doctors, nurses etc. do the heavy stuff. Plus whoever is going to be in charge of his exercise program.

With me off my feet and him on a strict diet figure we will just skip Christmas food stuff. I can't cook any of it and he doesn't. lol

I didn't include anything in Cassie's pm because by then it was thought to be a false alarm. Besides something young people should not have to deal with unless unavoidable.

12. I'm not around the clubhouse much either anymore.
Stupid pinched nerve! Won't heal and I can't take more than two pills a day of my medicine without having hallucinations. Get your husband home for some ferret love. Petting soft, furry critters is therapeutic.

15. Sorry to here about the pinched nerve.
I know how painful they are.:hug::hug: You sound like you have "odd" reactions to drugs like I do. I say odd because it takes a bit to convince doctors and nurses it really does react like it does to you even if it isn't the norm. Hope it starts to heal on its own, sometime miracles do happen. Did you at least get settled and comfy in the new home? I know what is around you can help or hinder how you feel only too well these days. Sending more gentle :hug:s.

3. Oh dear! He was in the hospital on the West Side?
Well, damn, if I'd known you had someone over there I would've crossed the river and paid him a visit. "Hey, you don't know me, but..."

Goodness gracious, you poor folks. Do insist on cardiac rehabilitation. It could give him the second chance my mom didn't have. (My father had a heart attack while driving. He survived, and you can bet his wife has changed his diet.)

Hope it won't be long before you "get un-screwed." It's got to be a real struggle being in that wheelchair in the first place, not to mention doubly hard while all this is going on...

6. He was fine while in the hospital.
He is one of those patients that know how to be nice to everyone so they all love him and give him extra attention. Since the company had to come get his truck (can't leave that much butter to sit) he had nothing with him except the stuff I reminded him to take. His cell phone and pills. He forgot about the charger and any clothes. A couple of doctors got him a couple sets of scrubs and everyone added to a care package. One nurse even found a phone store and used her luch to get him a charger for his phone. Really good people there. They even gave him eat right or die lectures for me. They liked the way I put it. lol

I would give a big recommend for the hospital. Not sure things would of turned out so well had he been home. We do not have a cardiac care unit in any of the hospitals around here so he would of ended up in Baltimore or Philadelphia and I still am not allowed to drive. I really think he would of been sent home that night here and told to check back with our regular doctor. That would of been at least a week later so it could of been worse.

I can't wait until the screw comes out and I can hopefully at least start some weight bearing, even if it is with crutches. Then no one is getting away with hovering and telling me no. My poor zoo crew is feeling neglected, the house needs deep cleaning and I'll have to do all my fall yard work in the winter. Plus I really want to make my own coffee, sigh. They try and are doing great but somethings you just have to do yourself to have it right.

4. Wow!
Timing is everything. Thank heavens there was no permanent damage, and you're so right to make him go through rehab. It can only help.

Here's hoping that stupid pin comes out soon. I know you probably won't be ready to rejoin the Rockettes right away, but I'm sure you'll be back to your old form in no time once you get going.

Best wishes to both of you guys.

7. Despite the scare and
inconvenience of being that far away I am of the belief he got lucky. He ended up some place with great staff that decided not to take chances. I just don't think the local hospitals would of done the same and I know they aren't equipped the same. Hoping it scared some sense into him.

As for me 14 weeks is way to long to not be allowed to do anything. You know it is bad when house work starts looking like a fun thing to do. It is scary to be looking forward to a time I can tear this house apart and clean it. I hate housework normally.

8. Oh I wish I could get on my
feet in a few days. From what I understand it will be in increments over a few weeks. Right now even that sounds good. My next house will have no steps at all though, just in case. An open floor plan is looking better and better to me too.

See above for more on Terry. I am still making it a point to look at the brighter side of things and avoiding the negative sides. Thanks dg.

14. It will sound weird but I am not
seeing this as a bad year. After the year 2000 where the least of my problems/bad news was the * appointment it would take a lot to even come close. Hopefully we never have a year like that again. Though I would never turn down prayers and blessing because things could also go better.

I almost look at Terry's as he wouldn't listen to me, he wouldn't listen to the doctor for more than a month, he wouldn't listen to anyone else so Someone decided to give him a scare so he would finally listen. It is working for now, we will see if it keeps working. He seems to have a very bad memory on a lot of things. He needs to really get it through his thick skull that his new diet is for life and exercise is as important as anything else he does. Luckily I seem to of found doctors that do not sugar coat anything for him to go too. I ask others about their cardiologist. Chose the ones that all swore were good but they also complained that nothing they do is ever good enough for the doc.

The good news is I get to start learning how to walk again. My doctor trust me so I can start with the crutches and 20 percent weight on the left foot. Then I get to slowly work my way to 100 percent then no crutches and with no having to go get checked every couple weeks. :bounce::bounce: He said since I listened everything is nice and sturdy (?) now and feels pretty good. Hurts like hell to me but he said that was from not walking. My foot is also crooked but he said walking and getting the muscles back will straighten it. Both feet need exercise and workouts but at least I can start doing something myself now. The screw won't come out until January sometime though because he likes to be sure he won't have to put a new one in. Long as I can start walking I can stand it.:)

Hope all is well with you and the kitties and that the job thing is getting some settled and it goes best for you.

18. Yay to the walking!!!
Patience does pay off, especially where healing is concerned. O8)

Are you going to get P Therapy? Maybe they could send someone to your home to help you stretch your muscles and ease back into walking again.

As to Ter, hey - whatever works, huh? Maybe like so many others, he had to have one hell of a scare to get healthy. It may have saved his life.

21. He wants to wait until I
am walking for PT and probably until after I get the screw out. I have things I can do here that they would do and he would rather my time in PT be doing things I can't do at home. (Co-pay cost and insurance only likes you to go for the shortest time possible.) I am looking into joining the Y for a month or two because a pool is the best place to relearn how to walk in my opinion. I can at least make it down the stairs a bit better and not scare everyone around me when doing so.

As for Ter, I do think it took a scare to get through his thick skull that he has to do just like everyone else should if he wants to live. Sometimes I wonder if he thinks he is the one exception to the rules on healthy living or even semi healthy living.

20. Wow, it just goes on, doesn't it?
Well, you know, if something's going to go wrong with your heart, Cleveland is a great place for it to happen. If you're in real trouble you'll end up in the Clinic and you just don't get better than that. That, of course, is assuming there's any time to get to the Clinic.

Glad to hear you're back on the way to walking too! It must be agonizing, but the PT will help. I hope your path starts to smooth out from now on!

22. "Well, you know, if something's going to go wrong...
...with your heart, Cleveland is a great place for it" That is exactly what the doctors and nurses out there told him. Even though it was far from home it was a much better place response wise to happen than here. We are at least an hour away from any major hospitals and ours might of sent him home when the test came back as all was normal. Specially since he would of had someone around and not be driving a tractor-trailer right away. Not sure you could convince him that anywhere is better than Parma's Cardiovascular Care Center these days. He really liked the people and even he understands not everywhere would of kept him like they did. I do like professionals that follow hunches which is why he was kept.

The walking thing is a big YEAH even if slow because now I feel a little bit less trapped. I hate not being able to do anything but sit. Pro PT comes later, for now get to do it on my own. Not sure the doctors really trust PTs with this type of injury in early days. Been doing a lot of reading and a lot of docs seem to think they can go overboard and make things worse. So far I have been told if it hurts to stop, wait and try again with less force later. Mostly have to gently stretch and curl my foot.

19. Hello, Gogi!
Yeah, I'm doing a lot better - mostly because I know there's going to be an end to this crazy lifestyle. Just knowing I'm going to change jobs (at least for a while, if not permanent) has done wonders for me. :)

How's your new place working out for you? :hi:

The company that bought my house finally tore it down 2 weeks ago. They wanted my lot to put an F-15 fighter plane on it for advertising. :bounce:

ARGGH! Shelby's talking again! What the hell does that fool know about innovation. :nuke:
