Well, the layoff fairy has visited Casa SeattleGirl
MrSG was laid off Saturday night.

He'll get paid through the 31st, and of course, he's eligible for unemployment bennies.

But it sucks, especially because the person they decided to keep, the one "who fits best with the company" is a First Degree Drama Queen and Shit Stirrer.

And, she makes less than he does.

And, she kisses the boss's ass.

Pisses me off that they did that to him.

I just hope he can find something good now.

1. I'm so sorry, SG
Look at the bright side -- at least it happened after you got a good job that you love! Sorry they kept the DQ, but of course they did it because she makes less and kisses the boss' ass.

8. True.
At least the timing was good. I should be able to make enough to support the both of us, and he is eligible for unemployment bennies.

Though it would be nice if we both had jobs. :)

2. Sorry to hear that, SG
but in my experience, when the good employee is shit-canned in favor of the ass-kisser/shit-stirrer, the company soon regrets its decision. Hopefully, Mr. SG will find a job quick enough & tell 'em where to stuff it when they call wanting him back.

9. Thanks, Wolvie.
Yep, I'm pretty sure they are going to regret keeping the Drama Queen.

It's not that she doesn't do a good job; rather, it's that she spends at least half her time Drama Queening, so she isn't always that productive.

Oh well.

3. Oh dear, I'm so sorry, SG.
As for the one they kept...ain't that the truth. It just amazes me who business chooses to kick out and who it chooses to keep. It's all too often based on exactly the criteria you describe.

10. So many companies use that criteria.
I get it that they want to maximize their profits, and while I don't have a problem with that, I do have a problem when it shafts someone.

Seems they never realize that keeping the more productive person, even if he/she makes more than someone else, would ultimately be the best thing for them.

4. That totally blows.
Why is it that those people always get away with the BS?

And it sucks.

6. Damn seems you don't get a
break.:hug::hug: Hoping he finds something soon and that it is better for him. If their decision making process is like the one they used to chose who was laid off then it is no wonder they are having to lay people off. Hang in there, Obama will be sworn in soon and start working on fixing the mess * has made of our country.

7. Damn.
That's not fair. :(

And yeah, figures that they'd go with the cheaper person... cheaper in every sense of the word. They deserve what they get.

14. No, it's not fair.
Unfortunately, I don't think most companies use "fair" as part of their criteria about who to keep and who to let go.
