Note: I am an Obama supporter. I am not an Obama worshiper, and I do not believe he can do no wrong. I realize I will not agree with him on everything, but there are certain big issues on which I believe we should be of the same mind or there's gonna be trouble.
This business of not prosecuting certain people, perhaps not anyone, who violated the Constitution under Bushco is one of those things. Like Keith, I think he needs to do it--and I would believe that even if Keith didn't push the issue or thought differently. I doubt he will do it, though.
Apparently, to some DU'ers, that makes me a false supporter, or something.
What do you all think of this meme that he isn't prosecuting CIA people because "they can take him out in two seconds flat and he knows it, and they threatened him into silence"? And "It's a good thing he's not prosecuting those people because if he did, the CIA would have him killed, and then all the good things he could do will go down the drain"?
Is it just me, or have these people been spending too much time on the grassy knoll in Area 51 wearing their tinfoil hats while they argue the details of controlled detonation and making jet planes and all their passengers and crew disappear?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not naive about the CIA. But you know Occam's Razor. And Occam's Razor tells me that the sad truth is that these people have just come up with a handy excuse for why their hero is Justifiably Too Skeered to Do the Right Thing.
And then we have the "It's the most brilliant political decision he could have made" people. You know, the ones who see non-prosecution as a necessary 2012 reelection strategy. Because, you know, if Obama seeks "petty revenge" against Constitution violators, well, he can just FORGET about all those independent and '08 Obama Republican votes! They will get mad and they will write him off! He MUST make sure the Blue Shirts win again and not the Red Shirts!! That is what matters most!! Because you just KNOW the Red Shirts are going to be a formidable opponent with that candidate they are gonna put up...you betcha!!!! (read into that what you will, but even if it was someone else...I mean, they got nothin'!)

Could a president be more popular? ...And yet we hear about how he has to be careful, he has to tread gently, lest he UPSET someone. So he doesn't dare try to punish anyone for, well, you know, violating the law of the land...! :grr:
It's like he's Brad Pitt, and he doesn't want to give his date a goodnight kiss on the lips, lest she conclude he's just trying to get her in the sack. (Which she can hardly wait for him to do.)
What is wrong with this picture?
...I think I need a DU break. Sometimes this place just frustrates me so.
