On the one hand, I think he's right that it won't add anything to the discussion -- unless Cheney is the one holding the leash in one or two of them -- and would do more harm to the troops than it would add info to the investigation. On the other hand, if we hadn't been through the last incredibly secretive and propagandized eight years, I don't think there would be so much of a backlash at the decision. He's really damned if he does and damned if he doesn't -- someone was going to be unhappy either way. This time, for better or worse, it appears he erred on the side of caution. Besides, if the court overrules his request, it's out of his hands anyway.
