1. Another live intro
It's a shame that it has to be because of terror alerts.

Also, I am LOVIN' this new outfit! See, that's a good grey suit! You go, KO! :loveya:

6. does he have a new grey suit?
I'm working, not watching. Okay, not exactly working at this very moment. Me bad.

Did he finally get a decent-looking gray suit just to go nyah-nyah at us?

10. a prison jumpsuit would be better than
"that other thing" but a dark grey pinstripe would be yummy.

Yes.
And it picks up the silver in his hair and it's spectacular. A tad shiny, a bit darker then the dreaded suit-which-must-not-be-named, and it has wide set tone-on-tone pinstripes. Just on the edge of gangster, but sooo much better and more, pardon the pun, suited to him.

I'm glad it's not too "gangster". Ugh, that politician the other night -- was his suit not truly awful. As if we didn't already think a lot of politicians are crooks!

35. right, it may be halloween. the first time, there was a death in his
family- so three weeks off. now, this is just a vacation-- also three weeks.
it looks okay so far, there's a bit of exposed brick in two rooms which looks nice. they got a lot of the new bathroom done with the most godawful tile i've ever seen, wide black and white stipes. but the black tiles are etched with this weird floral motif. it's a lttle sopranos, but hey it's brand new. LOL.

and how much the ticket costs relative to his salary, I can kind of understand why he'd want to stay awhile. As for the tile... well, new counts for something. And be glad it's black and white and not some god-awful puce color.

Deliberately leaking classified information to someone without a security clearance is a crime. It's true that it isn't usually prosecuted - but that's because it's usually an accident/pure stupidity.

S/NF (Secret NoForn) doesn't really make it more of a crime than if it were just Secret.

Either way he should have his clearance suspended until it is resolved, and probably permanently.

Did you hear about the guy in Texas who went out into his garage, felt something sharp on his foot, reached down and was bitten on the hand by the pygmy rattlesnake that had just bitten his foot? I just read the transcript, and Musto was meaner about her looks than KO.

KO said, "Because if you're comparing this gal and Sienna Miller, you would be hard-pressed to explain it on looks, or as the jockeys say, making weight." I'm actually not sure what he meant, and maybe you're right, but I personally think they look quite similar.

I did like Musto's "She's the Devil" comment. And, this: "Look, he not only shagged the nanny, he shagged her on a pool table, thinking no one will notice. That's the first place people look."

:hi:

part of the trip was always to meet with a realtor and get a preliminary feel for the housing market. The realtors were always surprised that we asked about deed restrictions, until we explained we'd once lived in a city with no zoning, which tended to make the deed restrictions pretty important.

then what difference does it make if you blow something up? None of it belongs to you, anyway, including the people. They're just your oppressors. (Real or imagined.) I think it's similar to the mindset of the kids who bring guns to school and shoot people -- when you don't belong to a society and feel persecuted by it, there's a chance that you're going to lash out and attack that society. When you feel like part of something, you're less likely to want to destroy it.

could this be a subtle (or unsubtle) discriminatory attitude left over from the colonial days? As for here, yeah we've got our share of discrimination against you-name-it, but there's so much variety in the US that the social forces against upward mobility might not be so stringent. It's easier to feel like "part" of a society if you or someone like you has a hope in hell of ever rising to the top of it.

Too much of the lower class are too busy trying to scrape a living to bother with that shit. And, to be brutally honest, they're used to being crapped on, and don't have the same sense of entitlement.

122. I like the suit.
I might have gone one shade darker, but in general, it's a nice suit and a much better fit that his other gray suits.

It is truly amazing how many fugly ties there are in the world. And how few of them are displayed on MSNBC.

7) Are they making Rachel Maddow wear more makeup? She looks a little overdone tonight.
8) WTF is AL SHARPTON doing on Bowtie Boy's show?

150. I can't comment on Rachel's makeup
I didn't stick around for that long. KO looked a bit ruddy tonight, too -- perhaps it's not the usual makeup person?

Is Jude Law supposed to be hot? The man has does not start my engine.

161. And once again she says...
HE DID NOT CRITICIZE HOW THE NANNY LOOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HE WAS JUST SAYING THERE WAS NOT A DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!At least that's how I interpreted it. Sheesh, people...taking offense where there need be none...and then using the excuse "Oh well, he's a guy..." Personally, I hate that "Men are pigs" attitude in women. I thinkit's quite ugly. How many of you would like a man who thought all women were pigs and every time he heard something from one that he thought he didn't like, said "Oh well, she's just being a woman"? Sexist, isn't it? Well then, quit with the double standard already willya???? :-) (Smilie included so you still know I love you all, I'm just a bit irritated right now. Oh well, on I go...)

162. well, actually I wasn't offended by KO's remarks
but since you decided to go off in reponse to one of my posts, I got the transcript of the relevant remarks from last night's show. Here goes:

"OLBERMANN: Is there some allure to this idea of the nanny? Is there some childhood throwback psychobabble stuff? Because if you're comparing this gal and Sienna Miller, you would be hard-pressed to explain it on looks, or as the jockeys say, making weight.

MUSTO: Absolutely. But I think in most cases with their celebrities, when they're men, they'll sleep with anyone but the wife or fiancee, no matter what the wife or fiancee looks like. I think Jude Law would sleep with Josephine the plumber. It doesn't even have to be a nanny.

But in this case, OK, Daisy Wright may not be Sienna Miller, whatever her name is, in the looks department, but she's not Margaret Rutherford. You know, these are not your granny's nannies. The new generation of nannies aren't so bad. They trade in on the old-fashioned kind of allure of the sweet lady, but they're in the average looks department, so they're doable to Jude Law."

I have the same impression of this exchange that I did when I first heard it: KO thinks the actress is more attractive than the nanny, and is wondering what the incentive for infidelity was. That's clearly what Musto thought he meant, too, judging by Michael's response.

167. Well, in THAT case, I certainly understand...
and it's well understood, any excuse really WILL do...

Seriously, I thought the whole discussion was quite telling because I think what it revealed is that Keith is genuinely clueless about the attraction some people (male or female) feel for "forbidden fruit."

What happened here seems scarily obvious...Jude Law appears to be the kind of guy who can only REALLY be turned on by a woman he's NOT supposed to have...hence he cheats on his wife with Sienna, his wife leaves him, then he takes the next logical step which would seem to be planning to marry this woman who was so wonderful he had to break up his marriage for her. But nooooo...now that she's his fiancee, she's LEGITIMATE. He's SUPPOSED to boink her. Therefore, as B.B. King would say, "the thrill is gone." And all of a sudden the nanny is starting to look really good...

KO doesn't appear to get this. He seems to think attraction is subject to some sort of laws of common sense or something. Maybe it is, in his case. I mean, it's highly appealing to think that he just doesn't get why some men feel compelled to cheat on their relationship. He seems to think that, hey, if the forbidden woman is no more attractive than that woman you're already with, why cheat? (We won't even get into the whole issue of whether it makes sense to cheat if she IS more attractive.)

Ah, KO...your lack of comprehension for why some men behave so badly only endears you to us all the more. :loveya:

168. I don't know if he truly didn't "get it" or if he was just
playing dumb because your average American is going to think, "boy, that Sienna is hot! Why cheat on her?" Let's face it, how many of us thought Prince Charles needed to have his head examined for being so infatuated with Camilla when he had Diana, who was beautiful, inside and out? But Charles had a history and common interests with Camilla that he didn't have with Diana -- it was about more than the sex, although that's all the tabloids focused on.

169. I'll agree with you about the Charles and Diana thing
although I still think Charles is a creep because then he should have married the damn woman back in '72 or whatever when they were both still single and free. No games. Then maybe she shouldn't have gone and married someone else just to spite him (which was dumb also), thus taking herself off the market and making him feel pressured into finding himself a pretty, gullible young virgin to be his broodmare, love her or not. I had a sense that marriage was doomed from the start. Everyone else was calling it a storybook wedding and I was saying "uh-uh." Sadly I turned out to be right.

But anyway, while it would make sense for KO to play dumb regarding this situation (put himself in the shoes of the viewer), it doesn't seem like something he often does, unless he's already got a point he's trying to make and the interviewee is largely serving as a way to bring it out.

I get the impression that in the case of Jude Law, his relationships ARE all about sex, so it would be logical to assume he'd pick the most attractive partner available...unless one of them was "better in bed" than the other, which I guess could be a factor. But something tells me that with this guy, there's no rocket science to it. He just wants what he's not supposed to have, finding it far more exciting than any legitimized relationship--even one that *used* to be forbidden.

And, oh yeah,, Musto had me wheezing with the "Josephine the Plumber" line.
