1. Hi Sharon!
I don't Twitter, but damn, I think it's pretty cool that the Iranian protesters are using it to beat the media blackout!

In other news, there are a couple of forums on this website that seem to have turned into the "I hate Obama" forums. My gawd, but some folks are making him out as worse than Bush!

Yeah, apparently because I am not rending my garments, and
pulling my hair out while running down the street, I don't think Obama has any faults at all.

Hi Patsy. Thank God for this oasis of sanity! :hi:

28. It's a good place to hang out, and the drinks are cheap.
I fully understand the anger and disappointment. When emotions run high, some people tend to lash out, and I expect nothing less. However, I do have a problem with the loud protestations that if you do not think exactly like that OP believes you should, about every article/blog posting ever, no matter how hyperbolic the headline at hand, you are the enemy. What good does that do other than enable someone to get their hate on?

30. Exactly.
I got into it a couple of weeks ago about HOW to approach DADT (NOT whether it should be done away with), and now two people I had always gotten along with and liked think I am a raging homophobe.

10. I'm with you, Sharon,
Some of the loudest yelling is about DOMA and DADT. Now, I certainly understand that people want those two things gone; I do too. But I don't remember this much yelling and screaming and finger pointing when Bush was in office.

:hi:

12. Probably because they didn't expect anything from him
and they expect too much too fast from Barack. I'm sure DADT will be repealed. DOMA will be more difficult, but I certainly don't blame Barack for the Justice Department's brief. Everything can't happen all at once.

13. I know.
Sometimes I just get tired of all the yelling and screaming. This would probably get my ass kicked in the other forums, but sometimes, speaking softly CAN get you a far piece down the road. Sometimes, the louder one yells, the harder it is to hear what one is saying.

42. When my daughter was in school at American U in DC
It was the October of her sophomore year, I think, which would have been 1996. The unfurling ceremony was amazing.
We had to get there before daylight -- I went with her and a bunch of her friends from the dorm - they were all helping unfurl a panel. We got dropped off at the wrong end of the mall and had to walk all the way to the other end in the dark.

I don't like that.

Damn, I still support him and I don't want to act like I'm ready to throw him in the trash after only 5 1/2 months because I'm not, but what's up with THAT crap???

24. Hi Berry
I'm actually kind of confused about that. I've read that it's more the Secret Service's call, rather than Obama's call.

And then I've read the opposite, so I just don't know.

If it IS Obama's call, then I'm with you, and think they should be released.

36. I'd like to believe that. But it's also the people's house.
See, it's like this: I, like Keith, have concerns (but NOT concern-troll concerns) about things. I don't think that makes me a bad person. I don't expect overnight change and I understand things are difficult sometimes. But that said, I want to see boldness from this administration, which was elected with a mandate to make BOLD changes--and has the votes to make them. I don't want compromise, appeasement and bipartisanism to rule the day all the time.

And it gets me angry when some DU'ers are more than ready to throw Keith under the bus just because he is doing WHAT HE SHOULD BE DOING as a journalist: not praising Obama all the time, but watchdogging him. THAT'S HIS JOB. WHAT ELSE DID THEY THINK IT WAS????

What's more, it's OUR JOB as the people who ELECTED him.

Yet some of them just want to sit back and worship.

39. That's true, Berry; some people do want to just worship. And others
what to kick Obama down the road at the least little thing.

Holding him accountable is certainly what we should be doing; I believe it is our responsibility. I just think there is a middle ground somewhere that some folks (NOT you or anyone here) are totally unwilling to see. He's either all good or all bad to them.

44. I take the middle ground. I have no idea why some other people are so incapable of it.
Although I do think that maybe some of the kicks in the ass are warranted.

I can't blame gay people for being sick of waiting. I think his feet need to be held to the fire about DADT and DOMA. It's like any other civil rights; people are tired of being told "Be patient." MLK didn't stand for "Be patient."

As for health care, I want to see him nailed to offering single payer.

The logs (old and current), and their visability, are the part of the last suit where people were suing Bush to release them. The directive to keep them secret is still in place. Boooo.

There's a lot more here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31373407/ns/politics-white_house/page/2/

I don't like it either, and I hope they change this, among other things, very soon.

81. The military had jack-all to do with it
She just dragged them in to hide behind.

Not only is Keith right on both his points (that the First Amendment doesn't cover TV speech and that "the troops" aren't currently fighting for Americans at all), but the true fact of the matter is that NO military fights for Americans' right to free speech. Yes, you can say they fight so we can RETAIN the right, but they don't fight to GET it for us. We already HAVE it.
