18. But not too good.
:hi: I'm watching with one eye. Had dinner downstairs and one of the TVs was tuned to MSNBC so I could already tell it was definitely another Shuster night.

Looks like Izzy Povich took advantage of Keith's absence to make MJ the lead story...*sigh*

24. I have to say, it makes me think
back to the crazy story of Trig's birth, and her flying with leaking amniotic fluid for twelve hours to Alaska, then driving an hour plus to get to the MatSu clinic at home to have the baby.

The way she plays with the truth makes it seem all the more likely, at this point, that Trig was Bristol's, and that she got preggers again to have Tripp.

Crazy stuff!

31. Someone pointed out once that thinking Trig is Bristol's may be the KINDER thing to think.
Given that otherwise you have to assume that she made that 12-hour trip on a plane after her water broke and then more than an hour on the ground. Makes her sound like she gave not a damn about the fate of her own baby, and maybe even contributed to his problems.

26. Is that flamenco guitar behind Obama's
Hall of President's speech? Was that only on Oddball? Did I even hear flamenco guitar at all, or am I really hanging out with Rod Serling?

28. It just sounded like homey Americana music to me.
By the way, did anyone else catch the greatly exaggerated story of Keith's death yesterday? I guess someone vandalized his Wiki page to say he died early Wednesday morning from complications of celiac disease. I didn't even know about it until I read someone's link to a story about the hoax on GD yesterday afternoon.

And no, I didn't think it was true just because he failed to show yesterday!

(His commment would probably be: "Celiac? Why couldn't they have me falling off a cliff like all the A-list stars?")

44. Okay, I rewound
and I still can't tell. There's the feel of the down homey stuff (which of course makes more sense), but there's the minor key strumming thing of flamenco too. Combine that with the low Oddball music playing in the background, and I have no idea.

34. I am NOT liking this Obama secrecy crap.
I am gonna have to have a looong talk with that boy. (As Jed Clampett used to say about Jethro, only Obama is waaaaay smarter.) Gonna have to write him a letter, saying:

1. Suspend DADT and get Congress to dump it
2. Same with DOMA
3. Single payer or else
4. No more secrecy about ANYTHING not utterly necessary
5. Prosecute Bushco and send 'em all to the Big House.
6. We have the votes. No more excuses.

Thank you.

48. Well, when you put it that way, you have a point.
Don't they know, it's supposed to be a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac?

But seriously...yeah, you know you're getting old when they use the music YOU listened to when you were young to sell stuff for geriatrics.

So far we still have a little window there...when they do the commercials for Sea-Bond denture adhesive they're still singing "Bye bye, paste!" (takeoff on the Everly Brothers). When they start using Bryan Ferry's "Let's Stick Together," we're in trouble. When they start using Lionel Richie's "Stuck on You," it gets worse.

The day I will know death is near is when they use raunchy rap songs to sell denture stuff.

Ah, for the days when I was a kid and the jingles on the TV ads were parodies of songs from the '20s and '30s that I didn't yet know...except for Carly Simon's "Anticipation." There was that.
