This is the first time even Tweety actually acknowledged that Alison was going to be in tonight...maybe MSNBC feels they need to do that now because of the quick transition from one show to the next. (Obviously, the standup opening to Countdown, followed at the end of the show by a lens-smash leading directly to Tucker Carlson, is a permanent arrangement.) In any case, no one is saying anything as to why...it'd be nice to think it's just a dental problem or something, but I only wish it were that easy to be consoled.

Maybe Keith has the same crappy summer cold I do. :-( If so, I wish I could get away with spreading a good juicy rumor that I gave it to him/he gave it to me...but I'm afraid that wouldn't fly!

(okay, I only stayed up to do laundry, but it was worth it. Alison's still my favorite sub host.)

12. Sorry, Marcinkowski does nothing for me.

I'm sure he's a nice fella and all, and hurray for him, but a "hottie" I do not find him. Especially in the absence of the one I DO find a "hottie." *sigh*

Speaking of which...I really didn't expect Alison to say "...filling in for Keith, who has the shits" if that were the case. A simple, euphemistic "...filling in for Keith, who's feeling under the weather" would do.

But I too am concerned that that's not the problem.

I also fully well realize that this might not be so top of mind had Tweety not just lost his father, but now we are presented with the strange situation that he, who we do know just suffered the death of his dad, is still on doing his show every day, and Keith is not... I have to give Matthews props for that. Maybe he is finding, as I did at one time, that working can be a kind of respite in the middle of grief because it forces you to turn your mind to other things for a while. Even when that is what you least want to do, sometimes it's the best thing you can do.

Anyway, even if the possibility of family concerns wasn't top of mind right now, it would still be a consideration as an explanation for the sudden absence.
