21. Yeah, and unfortunately we tend to approach this backwards.

In other words, when it comes to health care in this country, we start at the wrong end -- i.e., can we pay for it, rather than assuming everyone needs it and therefore we must find a way to pay for it, period.

And the comment sections of sites such as The Washington Post are filled with posts from people who are making nice, long lists of the people they don't want to cover: smokers, the overweight, illegal immigrants et al. There's an almost mind-boggling mean-spiritedness abroad, with Joe Wilson and the teabaggers only the tip of the iceberg.

The Churchill quotation tonight provided an interesting context.

is the picture of his father. That puts a face to the entire issue. We have to come together as a nation, as a people, as human beings on this!!! My dad didn't have a chance and he had insurance. My older brother had insurance too but he didn't make it, and just a few weeks ago I went to see one of my brother's dearest friends who is in a hospice so my prayer is that everything Keith said tonight sinks in real deep and REAL HARD!

This should get the politician's attention for sure!
