KOEB Meeting 7/29/05 (Friday Night Party Time!!)

"Hi there, sports fans! KO here, appearing in an ancient photo with my old SportsCenter tag-team partner Dan Patrick to remind you to LISTEN TO US, STARTING NEXT FRIDAY when I join Dan for an hour of his show on ESPN Radio, from 2 to 3 pm. Check the ESPN.com Web site for a list of stations near you--or if you need to get satellite radio, well heck, get satellite radio! That's Fridays on ESPN Radio, starting August 5. Me. Dan. Me. Did I mention, me?? Be there. Aloha.

"Oh, and enjoy tonight's Countdown. I'll be there. I think. Uh, well, maybe. I mean, I still have new suits and shirts and ties to show off and everything."

Did you see Hardball? David Gregory so rocks -- he really asked Jean Schmidt some hard questions. Amy Goodman was great, too.

3. Yes, I did.
David :loveya: Gregory was wonderful! But towards the end of the interview w/Schmidt, he kind of just let her ramble, then said "thank you" with a bemused smile on his face.

I'm wondering if they're grooming him for a permanent spot - although, I can see why he likes the WH beat. Someone's gotta ream Scottie every now and then.

9. World jamboree
It's like a guinness book of world records thing to see how many boy scouts they can trick into sitting for hours in the scorching heat if they promise them "the president's coming!"

This year it looks like they might break the record.

It's too bad that you didn't get the marijuana ref tonight, Patsy.
If only Bill Frist had come out for medical marijuana use and ticked off even MORE Repugs...*sigh*!

I've decided I understand why he's in favor of stem-cell research. Because heck, he'd do research on actual babies, too, if he could. After all, he's not been known in the past for putting limits on that kind of thing. (*MEOW!*)

I see my "senator" flip-flopped.

Of course, this is the first issue in his 12 years as my "senator" that I've agreed with him.

I'm using quotes because Frist has never, ever acted as though he represented me in any way, shape or form. Ergo, he's not actually my "senator."

34. You're right, Clark -- we do disagree on this one
I did not see his wrist twist around at all. You could see the rest of his hand to the right of the finger that was up. If it had been his thumb, the thumb would have been facing the camera and the rest of his hand would he been in front of it, not next to it.

54. That's my point -- if you saw his knuckles, it couldn't have
been his thumb. The knuckles were horizontal, and if it was his thumb, they would have been vertical.

61. But it's possible to put your thumb up
and have your knuckles stay horizontal. It just means not twisting your fist into the straight-up-and-down position, but instead keeping your fingers folded down and your thumb up.

"Music of the Spheres."

It was fairly common in ancient thought (esp. eastern thought) that the planets had corresponding modes and notes. This thought was echoed in the writings of Ptolemy, and even Shakespeare. Or think of Gustav Holst's "The Planets," or even John Williams. :)

(OK, I had to look it up in Grout's History of Western Music - but I remembered it correctly!)

76. Yes, but did they have theremins?
and if they did, could they play "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys?

Science may never answer this crucial question.

32. Oooh! I like the sound of Saturn!
Reminds me of the kitchy 50's and 60's sci-fi movies.

35. Maybe it's inviting liberals to move to it.
Afterall, earth is being taken over by neandrathal neo-cons.

Saturn's lovely in the spring, I hear. :7

I hate, hate, hate her voice -- I will not be watching her show.

Like she's been up chain-smoking all night, and screaming at a high school football game.

It's going to be really hard watching Keith transition to her.

Then again, her voice could probably shatter glass on its own.

70. So we give Rita 2 days? 3?
And then we start emailing like crazy to let them know she's even worse than Tucker, and we demand a show hosted by either David Gregory or Rachel Maddow in that timeslot, right?

77. I have a better idea for the 9-10 hour myself.
Extend Countdown to two hours a night.

Or just forget all the other shows and turn MSNBC into the 24-hour Olbermann Broadcasting Empire. Yeah!!

100. Works for me
Although, as much as her voice bugged me, the little bit I saw last night I liked what she said. She and Rachel really ganged up on Fucker about that doctor who refused to artifically inseminate a woman because she was a lesbian. He claimed the doctor had a right to refuse to do any procedure he didn't want to do. The point was, he was refusing for one particular patient. It would have been one thing if he never, ever inseminated anyone -- that would be okay. But to refuse to inseminate someone because he's against someone being a lesbian (or a single mother) doesn't fly.

63. The love is not gone, just my internet connection.
I've been suffering from connectus interruptus due to a change in my internet provider.

Warning: for those of you who don't know, "plug and play" means plug it in, and play around with it for eight to ten hours until you get it working.

Still on a temporary fix here, but I want to say hi to everyone, and have a great weekend.

I still believe; I just have trouble posting about it.

:)

Hard to believe it's the same guy, isn't it?

Dang, KO looked hot tonight. The suit pants fit better, and the dark colors just look better.

I can hardly wait to watch the show! I've been stuck on the bus, and my computer has "connectus interruptus" (a/k/a a wonky modem.)

Re: The finger or the thumb? It's a thumb.
In watching the blivet move his hand down to his side, you can see the thumb clearly. No pen, nothing else.

It was a THUMB. Yesterday I thought otherwise just from the pics, but the slow mo's tonight on Countdown were very clear, unequivocally a thumb.

See you next week ladies.

BTW, where's Sparky? I miss him.

Seriously though, where oh where is my little Sparkela?

102. Hey, Bunny
You may have missed my post last week -- I PMd him to see where he's been and he's been working late a lot, then napping when he gets home. On the weekends he's been working on his house. He's doing okay, though.

Guess I'm alone in still thinking it's the bird. I watched and watched and just don't see it as his thumb.

Have a great weekend.

Anyway, I think people are looking at that, uh, digit and it's a Rorschach blot, is what it is. Those who want to see a finger are seeing a finger. Seems that way to me, anyway.
