First of all, I wasn't on last night because I have a nasty cold I just started coming down with yesterday. I probably won't be on tonight either; it's easier to just sit and watch Keith on the couch on the teevee machine.
Second, I did think his reference to being called a sexist by the wingnuts because he used the phrase "big bag of mashed-up" to describe Michelle Malkin, when he uses it to describe football players each week, was great. It didn't occur to me that it was a shout-out to me (thanks, Keith, finally :loveya: ), but what I felt was Keith finally getting his dander up about the fact that people were accusing him of sexism and, at long last, defending himself. Again.
Hey, Keith's not perfect on the anti-chauvinist scale; most men aren't. But he's way more evolved than many of them. In fact, if anything evidences that, it's that he's taken such an active role in the care of his father lately. Many times, when adults are faced with an ailing parent needing extended care, the brunt of the responsibility somehow falls into the hands of the daughters, while the sons get off with just visiting once in a while.
Obviously, geography played a big role in Keith's taking such responsibility early--Rochester is a lot farther away from Westchester than Manhattan--but with the number of jobs he has, a schedule that essentially expects him to be on call for duty whenever big news breaks, and a personality so popular with his viewers that he can't afford to miss much work, he would have had every excuse in the world to say he just didn't have the "bandwidth" to share caretaking duty equally with his sister. Yet it appears that both of them have been involved in their father's care--and that perhaps Keith's involvement has been greater at times. I suspect he's done a lot more than just drop by the hospital and watch baseball games on TV with his dad. And for that, I respect him--it says a lot about his relationship with his father, the obligations he feels as a son, and his respect for his sister.
KO, I salute you. :patriot:
Now, I'm going back to bed.
