I'm good. Got all my Christmas shopping done, and we're heading to Oregon tomorrow to spend a few days with my family.

6. Hi, I am.
:hi: This is a weak wave. I still feel the same, I'm looking forward to Christmas but I want to be well, not feeling like this. And I'm depressed because, well, Obama lied.

Why did he have to lie? Why did he have to roll over and play dead rather than fighting for what he said he'd fight for--and then lie about it?

What DID I vote for?

Not this.

*sigh* I hope no one will draw conclusions from this. I don't know what I'm going to do about it yet. All I know right now is that when it comes to politics, I'm reminded once again now of why I had no political party for so long, and why I didn't trust politicians to do a thing they said.

I changed my tune temporarily in '92 to vote for Bill, because I fell for all the hope crap. I was thoroughly disillusioned by 1996, though, and swore off politics again. It wasn't until 2004 that I became convinced that no, the difference between the parties wasn't Coke and Pepsi and I had to do something to try to get Bush out. That failed, but I didn't give up.

But now, I'm ready to. No matter how many people say NGU.

It seems all we Americans can count on in this world is that Republicans will be the party that will repeatedly bang our heads into the wall, and that Democrats will be the party that will fool us into temporarily feeling so good when it stops. But they won't do anything to stop anyone else from repeatedly banging our heads into the wall.

11. Have a safe, wonderful trip
and a very Merry Christmas with your family. I'm done too, except for the one pain in the ass gift I'm stuck looking for every year. But I have a little time to avoid my friend before I have to cough one up. :)

This turned out to me one of those years where I knew exactly what I wanted to get for everyone, so shopping wasn't too much of a pain in the backside!

I've learned to not get ahead myself worrying about things I can't control. I let the rest of DU do that. :)

:hi: Happy Festivus! GD and GDP are already well into the airing of grievances, but maybe I'll go over there later for the feats of strength.

I think this is worse than the primaries. I'm disappointed, but I'm still hoping they're playing "chess, not checkers," as Thom Hartmann says, and that it will all turn out okay in the end. I pray for passage of the bill and then reconciliation for the public option or Medicare buy-in.

55. What so many of them fail to understand is that Obama is NOT
a dictator! Some of the same people who caterwauled about Bush behaving like one now want Obama to do the same, because it's for THEIR issues. Call me silly, but I think that people should follow the laws, regardless of party affiliation. I know, I know, I'm being unrealistic, but still, if it was bad for Bush to do, I believe it would be bad for Obama to do too.

61. Oh, I believe entirely in consistency.
I don't think Obama should do anything for us illegally just because Bush did. I just wish he'd be more forceful and move faster. And I'm not asking him for stuff he didn't promise or pledge to support that I just imagined he would. And I have been willing to be patient too. I didn't expect him to fix everything overnight, and I do think he's done some very, very good things.

I would never do the Obama = Bush false equivalence or wish I had voted for the alternative. However, as far as Dems in general go, I have become fed up with their wimpiness and weakness. I am also annoyed that Obama has not seemed to catch on faster that you cannot say to the wolf, "Hey, let's stop fighting with each other, let's try to sit down at the table together" when all the wolf wants to do is eat you. If he doesn't know that by now, I don't know when he is ever going to learn.

Maybe it's time for me to write a damn fool letter.

24. Did you listen to Thom this morning? He thinks that at the
last minute, a public option and/or medicare-buy in will be back in the bill, but that they are holding it out right now so that the insurance company lobbyists con't have time to get in and much things up again. I sure hope he's right!

As far as GD and GDP, I stay away now, as the Hatriots and Hysterics seem to have taken it over. Instead, I often go to the Barack Obama group. It's much more sane in there. And of course, there is the KOEB!

I do think that that ad that is running, or is going to run, showing Obama saying that the health care plan has to have a public option, is a good idea. Just a little reminder to him (and to the rest of the Congress Critters).

54. There's an ad? I haven't seen it.
Oh, good...there needs to be something more than just Countdown reiterating it!

Obama needs to be reminded: he did campaign on the public option. He did. If he says he didn't, he's lying. I wanted him to be more than just another guy who would say anything to get elected. I knew that was a lot to ask of anyone, but I wanted it anyway.

He DID say there had to be a public option. And I don't want him to parse the meaning of "public option" the way Bill parsed what "sexual relations" meant or "what 'is' is."

56. I've only seen it on a news show, where they talked about it,
but it's good, because they play video of Obama saying that a health care plan must have a public option. And he did essentially say, like FDR did, "Make me". So the reminder is good.

I wish I could believe that reconciliation would get the Medicare buy-in, but even if it does, they'll never lower the age to under 50, which is what I need.

46. Yeah, I don't have health insurance any more, so I'd like
to see a public option coming out in the bill.

But while it won't help either of us in the immediate future, I think about Social Security, and how it didn't start out looking the way it looks now.

One of the big problems is that a lot of politicians pay far too much attention to THEIR feelings and THEIR ideals, while they ignore we the people.

The only thing that keeps me hoping is the fact that Social Security and Medicaare got better and covered more after they initially were passed.

But I am so damn disappointed in this president and this Congress right now, sad to say. They are acting as if nothing but corporations matters anymore and like they are more than happy to sell the rest of us down the river.
