1. Aw, shit.

Peter Jennings died on the one year anniversay of my girlfriend's mom's death- from lung cancer. She smoked for years and years and years. Was a nurse who knew she should stop, but didn't. She was 87, but jeez. My grandmother died many years ago- from lung cancer. She was in her 70's when she passed, but had smoked unfiltered Camels for years. At least neither gf nor I smoke.
Now Dana Reeve. That's just so sad.

2. The story on MSNBC said

that the rate of lung cancer in female nonsmokers under 51 is increasing.

I think we need to find out why.

I would not be the least bit surprised if secondhand smoke was to blame, though.

Whatever the cause, though, it's heartbreaking. :-(
