KOEB 8/9/05: The Floatacular
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 06:53 PM by BerryBush
So named because of how I feel tonight after last night...

Thanks, Keith. Just for being clear-eyed and just for being you.

2. I'm so sorry for Dana Reeve
and I'm happy you're well, KO.

:loveya::loveya::loveya:

I would have liked him to have had Cindy on, too. In the story on the front page of DU it says that three other MSNBC shows cancelled for no reason. I wonder if Countdown is one of them? Maybe she'll be on later this week.

Hi, everyone!

58. I hope Cindy is on, and I ache for Dana too.
Other DU'ers are starting to give him a hard time for not covering Cindy, implying it's an eeevul MSNBC conspiracy of some kind.

And my heart is breaking for Dana Reeve.

:hi: and :loveya: for all. Including Keith.

92. Hello all, a quick read through and
some comments. First, the SO is still alive but living on the edge with the deck building and all. Rained today so that gave him one more day to live. End of Monday finally stop his yelling and cussing at inanimate objects by threatening to go in the house and lock him out until he finished the deck alone. (His keys, phone etc were in the house.). He loses his temper at his stupidity too easily.

Saw KO yesterday but well decided not to post when it was still raw. Glad he is doing ok and does not have cancer, understand his wanting to lecture on smoking. also good thing you have a good dentist that checked and that you went to the dentist regularly.

On a personal note here, if anyone finds a new lump, bump knot that is unexplained, get it check right away. That can be the differences between a great outcome and death. SO has had Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma 3 times in the last 10 years. Not cured but manageable and is considered chronic at this point. The second time he almost waited too long and before his first chemo that time was considered terminal and chemo was only to keep him alive through Xmas, he started chemo in April. He got lucky because his "responds so well to chemo."

BTW love the SO to death but he still better watch himself on the deck building if he wants to be pain free.

82. For the record, Countdown is not listed among the shows
that canceled with Cindy.

I have to admit, I am getting really ticked off at DU in general this week. There are at least three or four separate threads of people bitching that Keith is just a MSM whore because he isn't covering Cindy Sheehan. All with posts from people who appear to have no idea what he went through last week. And all ripping him to shreds for the Military Idol segment and for showing a single lousy clip of the Runaway Bride mowing a lawn. As if he made those his two top stories of the day or something.

Of course, I was pissed with DU last week too, with all the threads whose basic theme seemed to be: "So, Ohio is losing a lot of kids in the war. Too damn bad. They voted Bush into office and stuck us with him--it is time all those idiots woke up. They deserve what they get." And many of them ripping into the families of the dead, assuming they were all Bush supporters, when I was reading newspapers in which several of them were saying they were NOT and they didn't even want their kids to go.

How soon they forget that not everyone in Ohio voted for Bush. How soon they forget that we may never know how many didn't, or might not have given the chance. Why should they, when it's so easy to just blame a whole state for reelecting him?

This is bitter medicine but it has to be doled out. The left can be as damn priggish and self-righteous as the right when it wants to be. And I, for one, am sick of it.

right after the election. It's a friggin herd mentality, and some people just wanna bitch, ya know?

Hey, I was just in the lounge, and TWO of the threads I was on got locked! DU is in a fighting mood, that's all.

125. agreed, DU has been in a very ugly mood lately
and I don't get dumping on the military families. A lot of people joined up before Iraq started, a lot truly want to serve their country, and frankly a lot of them join the military because that's the best option they have in this shit economy. To pain them all as mindless Bushbots is grossly unfair. I don't support this war at all, but that's no excuse to crap on the young men and women caught up in the middle of it -- or their families.

94. Hang in the Berry
Most of us know OH was stolen and don't blame most of Ohio. In any group of people you will have those that find pleasure in knocking anyone they can. Its best just to ignore those since the worst thing you can do to a person is refuse to acknowledge they are there.

Jack McCaffrey (?) on CNN had a good observation. Wolf was trying to get him to make a snarky comment, asking "what do you think about Jennifer Wilbanks having to push that mower?" Jack responded with, "well, it's community service. What she did wasn't so awful, except that the media got ahold of the story and wouldn't let it go, days on end. If this happened to anyone else, we wouldn't know about it."

57. One day, a long time ago, I was minding my own business,
rearranging the cases of Fresca, Tab, and Mountain Dew in the KOEB storeroom, when I heard small, furtive cries that sounded like someone in distress.

I was able to catch a glimpse, through a small (1/4") hole in the wall, of two writhing figures. Realizing that I was intruding on a private moment, I lingered no more than ten or fifteen minutes, when BING a button or snap or some other bodice-fastening item scored a direct hit on my innocent eye.

That ended my ability to hit breaking pitches, and I was quickly sent down to the minors, where I began drinking heavily to deal with my shattered self-esteem.

It was only later, when I was sitting in a bar in beautiful downtown Burbank, that my eye patch attracted the attention of one of Harlequin's top editors, who informed me that I would be perfect as a model for the cover of their fine literary offerings.

Thus was I saved from the ruin brought about by my selfless desire to safeguard the well-being of fellow KOEB members.

I thought the same thing about that tie. Hubby had the computer dismantled when I got home from dinner with a friend and he couldn't get it put back together correctly,so now he has to take it in again. I wish he's just stop fooling with it. It's been working so well since we got it back.

LOL He just can't leave well enough alone. Always messing around. We finally got it fixed and he was trying to hook up an extra fan or something -- who knows. Put it back together and it didn't work anymore. The people at the computer store are going to start running in the other direction when they see him coming. And he's a computer consultant -- been out of work for two years, but that's what he did and is trying to do again. Unfortunately we only have the one computer at home (if you don't count the old, old, old TRS-80 still sitting upstairs that he refuses to get rid of).

This is getting disappointing. If this is Carey's doing, he's gotta go.

BTW, Crispini, David :loveya: Gregory was doing Hardball tonight. He did a fantastic job - I could actually follow the interviews, because he didn't keep interrupting them with his own comments.

Especially after his wonderful essay on Peter Jennings.

We don't know he did this. One thing we do know is that it made Monica smile. And even better, it made KEITH smile no end. He had a GREAT time with that story. And anything that makes Keith smile makes me happy.

73. Yeah, like "Nessun Dorma."
It might be less challenging!

All in all, this was a wonderful night for Keith.

Now he just has to deal with the criticism of the fatheads who think:

1. he's deliberately avoiding the Cindy story (yeah, as if Keith ever deliberately avoids ANYTHING like that)

and

2. that by making his statement as he did last night, he took the spotlight away from Peter Jennings and tastelessly turned it on himself.

I should have known some losers/Keith-haters would say that. But those people just don't get it. They missed his whole message...which is that people are in denial about cancer until it happens to THEM. And that he was one of them. And that until it happens to YOU, you are one of them, too.

I highly suspect the people who accused him of turning the spotlight on himself have never had cancer and don't know one iota of what it feels to feel like he did. And they won't...until it happens to them. In the meantime, they have missed the entire point.

BTW saw you note on Roo's food, Big hugs. I had so much frozen for Gizmo that I have been heating it up and feeding it to the other ferrets as a treat. Can't keep it frozen long and well was hard to just throw it out, and the others love it as a treat. He is still with you.

I need to get to bed since I am setting the alarm for 5 am so we can be working by 7. Gives Terry that couple hours of relaxation (the only he will get for the day) and me time to not be morning mean before working. Have a good night and sweet dreams.
