KO is finally going to talk about Cindy tonight!
Tonight on Countdown
------------------------------------------------------

The cabbie who picked up the couple suspected in a deadly courthouse escape in
Tennessee said Thursday he did not buy their story that they needed to get to
Columbus, Ohio, for an Amway convention. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8896568/

A determined mother of a fallen U.S. soldier who has pledged to hold a roadside
peace protest near President Bush's ranch until he talks to her said Sunday that
she met with the president shortly after her son died.

An advertisement that a leading abortion-rights organization began running on
national television on Wednesday, opposing the Supreme Court nomination of John
G. Roberts Jr. as one "whose ideology leads him to excuse violence against other
Americans," quickly became the first flashpoint in the three-week-old
confirmation process.

Seven years after taking part in a schoolyard ambush where four students and a
teacher were killed, Mitchell Johnson will walk out of a federal detention
center Thursday. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8894307/

That's some of what we're planning for tonight's show.

Finally,
Some people bring flowers, others bring balloons. When Melvyn Reed's three wives
showed up to visit him at the hospital, they brought an unexpected curtain call
to his years as a double bigamist. British police confirmed that after Melvyn
Reed woke from his triple bypass heart operation earlier this year, his
complicated marital affairs took a turn for a worse. All three of his spouses
had turned up at the same time, despite his efforts to stagger their visits.

1. 'Scuse me, I need to flounce over to GD

and give some people a big fat ladleful of, "See! Now STFU!"

Honestly, these people who get all torqued up when KO or John Stewart don't cover what "we" think they ought to cover annoy me. Every day she stays out there, it's a bigger story.

2. Ya know what else?
Whatever happened to that African American gal who was five months pregnant that went missing? The media was "shamed" into covering her for about three days, and then dropped it again.

I'm sure as hell more interested in that than Natalee Holloway.

4. LOL......
...let's wait til after the segment ? I'm really hoping the part of the newsletter that addresses her "previous meeting with Bush" is a teaser, and not the end of the segment ("what? she's still not happy?")

5. I also get annoyed
when people expect media to cover the story every single day despite a lack of new developments. Hello, there are other things happening in the world. It's sort of a political variation of what's been the hardest thing for me about returning to actively writing code: too many of the people I interact with now have no grasp of the big picture and no interest in trying to see the bigger picture. Maybe we'll go back East when the administrations change.

7. I hear ya sister.
My recent trip to NYC has disenchanted me with life here. I wanna live where I don't have to own a car. :P

8. I can understand that.
So did you flounce over to GD? I did a search just now and didn't find anything, although I did encounter some now-locked threads o' pissiness that I could scarcely fathom. (Not on your part.)

Hmm, interesting... spellcheck wanted to substitute "prissiness" for pissiness, not too bad a fit...

14. Nah, it'd be fun,
but I'm not in the mood for a flamewar right now, honestly. Maybe later when I've got my mad on. :P

3. Uh-Oh....
This concerns me a tad:

"A determined mother of a fallen U.S. soldier who has pledged to hold a roadside peace protest near President Bush's ranch until he talks to her said Sunday that she met with the president shortly after her son died. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8851911/"

This is Thursday! We know her previous meeting w/* has been swift-boated so the RW can call her a "looney toon". Me hopes Keith gives her the compassionate "reasonable doubt" that W is capable of NOT having compassion. Or a clue?

6. I'm not concerned
KO's not gonna be suckered by a bunch of swift-boaters. He's a compassionate man who clearly thinks the situation in Iraq is going to hell in a handbasket and he's gonna wonder why blivet** won't take five friggin' minutes to meet with this lady and shut this whole thing down.

:grouphug: :loveya: :grouphug: <---and that's mostly for we-KOEBers who've had to defend KO on the public boards this week.

10. I've given up on that
A lot of DUer's are flat-out in an ugly mood right now and spoiling for a fight on the least pretext. As far as I'm concerned, they can just rub their mad spot and get glad. Keith's a big boy and is capable of selecting and covering a news story without let or hindrance from us. Giving him a heads up about a development he may not have seen yet is one thing; haranguing him because he's not doing it "the right way" is another. If people don't like the way he covers the news, they can get their own damn show and try the job on for size. They might learn it's not as simple and straightforward a task as they think.

12. I haven't been warned; it's simply a waste of time
if you're hellbent on feeling persecuted and ignored, you're gonna find a way to make that happen. And grabbing other people by the throat and demanding that they see things your way, goddammit, is a pretty good technique for accomplishing the "ignored" part.

13. No, that wasn't the reason.....
...I posted some facts...got my TWO threads locked and I was warned. It's not my style to be right *or else*. I chose not to challenge the DU rules, obviously I pissed off some people with the truth.

No, nothing to do with Keith, just some stupid stuff in the public boards :(

15. Catch, I wasn't implying that *you* were the one
who was being "right or else". DU seems to go through cycles where chips grow on shoulders and the "right or elsers" become more vocal. We appear to be in a waxing period for that right now, for whatever reason. It'll pass. It always does. Best just to batten down the hatches and ride it out.

18. Do I need to say how much I agree with you guys?
I am so glad Keith is finally covering Cindy, and sadly it is not just because I think her story deserves coverage. It is also sadly, in part, because maybe some people on DU will finally SHUT UP about his being a slave media whore to GE yadda yadda yadda.

Sheesh. These people blow up one story they heard (that MSNBC canceled some interviews with her) and take it as a reason to assume Keith as well is DELIBERATELY avoiding the story because he has been forced to. Come on! Is that the Keith we know? Especially the one who is allegedly catching flak for what he did Monday night? I don't think so. Such short memories they have of the one man who cared about the Ohio election irregularities.

Anyway, being right is the best revenge...and I am sure Keith's take on the whole thing will be "why is Bush being such a mule about this? Isn't this really, really bad PR on his part and utter stubbornness?" And he will be, once again, speaking truth.

19. If this story was covered on Monday,
it would have been lost in the Peter Jennings saga. It wouldn't have gotten the attention it did tonight.
