KOEB Meeting: 07/12/10 -- Cap's Lock Edition
:hi:, y'all! I don't see oil... Are they just not showing me the oil still leaking above? Or could this actually be it?

Who knew the solution to your iPhone 4's problems was duct tape all along? Paging MacGyver!

1. Hi Patsy!
I was thinking about getting an iPhone, as Verizon is going to start offering them, but I'm really not willing to have to spend extra for the duct tape!

How was the Antiques Roadshow?

:hi:

2. A whole lot of fun, thanks!
That's how they get you: with the duct tape! I hadn't heard about that fine for feeding the homeless, so I was checking the Herald and New Times, and I still don't see anything. That's dumb.

:hi:, SG!

I must have tuned out for a second: a find for feeding the homeless? :wow:

7. That's what he said
Miami, a $300 fine for feeding the homeless. That's all I caught.

8. That's ridiculous!
I've fed the homeless. Nobody forced me. If I have nothing to give, I tell them, and go on my way. I don't understand why this should be a crime, especially these days when so many people have lost so much!

9. I don't know where he heard it
but I'm sure he has better sources than the Google, so I'm eager to hear the rest of the story.

It was a long day, but the task we were assigned was very cool. Basically, we had to watch the whole thing on a monitor and headphones and take notes for the publicist on the appraisals. Aside from the 12 hours, it was like a marathon viewing of the show, unedited, with added hand cramps. Do you have any idea how long it's been since I've written that much by hand in a single day? LOL.

10. Wow, I can't imagine writing for that long!
Plus, my handwriting has deteriorated so much over the years, I wouldn't be able to read what I wrote!

I now think faster than I can write by hand and I've forgotten how to form cursive letters in rapid succession. :)

the AZ "Papers Please" lawsuit song isn't about Obama.

State laws which violate federal laws are unconstitutional by default. No American president--regardless of race or party--can allow challenges to federal authority. Turning it into a referendum on either or Obama or a band of scaredy-cat governors is just more partisan media kabuki.

36. I had my eyes opened a few years ago, during my neighborhood
caucus (I think it was 2004).

I live in a very racially mixed area, and the caucus reflected that. When we broke up into smaller groups to discuss things, two of the people in the group were blacks in their late 60's. The polling place here is in a low-income apartment building, which is always locked. On voting day, if someone isn't standing at the door inside to let people in, you have to try to catch the attention of someone inside.

To me, it's an inconvenience and somewhat irritating. To this couple, it was a barrier to voting. They understood why the building would be locked; many of the apartment buildings in Seattle are. What they couldn't understand is why in a neighborhood like ours, the county would put the polling place into a building that locks people out, instead of in the library, which is just two blocks away.

I had not seen it that way, but after they spoke up, I did.

racists" with the fact that some of them are buying t-shirts that say, "Yup, I'm a racist." :grr:
