Years from now they'll call it the Olbermann Effect (though, of course, KO won't be disrobing during the broadcast, he does'nt need to!),*If* they'd just follow his lead and realize you can do serious journalism with humor. Maybe it's too much of a gift, like nobody being able to paint like Seurat.

I think it's possible to make the news less stultifying without dumbing it down; Keith seems to accomplish that with snark. Heck, you get a surprising amount of news even from The Daily Show, which isn't meant to be news as such. But going for game-show news or T&A news, just to up the return on investment to 40%? I don't see it. And you know what? If a network has a strong evening news broadcast that I want to watch 5 nights a week, isn't that going to make it a little more likely that I'll stick around and catch at least the beginning of whatever's on afterward? So maybe giving me some decent, useful news I can use instead of infotainment crap would be a good idea? :think:
