Hey, folks: just in case I have technical difficulties of the online kind and can’t get to post tonight, I’m starting our own little pre-func! (Think of it as an electronic tailgating party).

Loved the return of Snark Diddy last night. His comments about the dolphins running FEMA and John Roberts’ wife snoozing through the confirmation hearings were terrific! So, what do you think he’ll be snarking about tonight? Will we see the return of “Keeping Tabs” with FiddleFaddleFederline? (Remember…if he uses that name, it was MINE, folks.) How many baseball references do you think he’ll sneak in? And most of all…

Will he offer up his fine self for a manscaping project in order to raise funds for Hurricane Katrina?

1. I think his snark will be tightly focused and aimed

at the upcoming speech and Roberts' confirmation hearing. I'm not expecting the return of the full Countdown format until sometime next week. I can't imagine him doing the manscaping thing unless he's lost a bet with Dan. :7

4. I sure hope he's not pre-empted

but it doesn't look as if he will be.

Anyway, I don't expect a "full Countdown" until next week either. By a "full Countdown," I mean:

1. Oddball
2. Top 3 Newsmakers
3. "Worst Person in the World"
4. Keeping Tabs
5. "Keep your knees loose"
6. Paper-wad pitch

To me, those are the required elements of a "normal" Countdown show. Other elements sometimes appear and sometimes don't (such as "Top 3 Sound Bites").

We already have "Worst Person" back, but it's a special Katrina edition only.

Also, I hope we will again see "I Quit!," even if only in weekly form (as Keith suggested before Katrina hit).

As for manscaping, I'd rather not see Keith go for it. I think a "Kiss Keith for Katrina" kissing booth would be a far better fundraiser. Can't you just see the line stretching across the country even as we speak?
