OK, so this has nothing to do with Keith, but it amused me.
You know how Tweety's doing his show from that Southern Leadership Conference the Repugs are having in Memphis? Well, last night as I'm waiting for Keith to come on, I see that before one of the commercial breaks they're showing scenes of Memphis landmarks--the statue of Elvis, BB King's Blues Club and so on...and the background music then hits me.

It's BB himself, singing "The thrill is gone...The thrill is gone away..."

I crack up laughing. Because I don't know whether Tweety's production people realized what they were doing, but it was like they had come up inadvertently with the perfect theme song for a group of Repugs meeting anywhere at this time in history.

Now of course, for us, there was never any "thrill" in the first place, but you gotta be thinking, for them, whatever "thrill" there was has DEFINITELY gotta be gone by now!

The only better thing would've been if they also played Elvis:

"The bellhop's tears keep fallin',
The desk clerk's dressed in black..."

1. yeah, I caught that, too
then again, when they were using, "Everything's up to date in Kansas City" all I could think of was the tag line for each verse, to wit: "They've gone about as far as they could go". I think I know too many old musicals. ;-)

8. Actually, given that these are Republicans we're talking about,
perhaps this verse is more appropriate:

Ev'rythin's up to date in Kansas City
They've gone about as fur as they c'n go!
They got a big theayter they call a burleeque
Fer fifty cents you c'n see a dandy show

(One of the men)
Girls?!

One of the gals was fat and pink and pretty
As round above as she was round below
I could swear that she was padded from her shoulder to her heel
But later in the second act when she began to peel
She proved that ev'rythin' she had was absolutely real!
She went about as fur as she could go

(All)
Yes sir!
She went about as fur as she could go!
