KO reminded me of how much I love Bob and Ray...
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 06:19 PM by Gogi
especially anything of their's that involves "the squalid village below" and Wally Ballou. The internets are wonderful, I was able to buy a two cd set of Bob and Ray's original radio broadcasts. Before this you had to buy a compilation album with a whole bunch of old radio shows on it just to get what you wanted. To me Bob and Ray are like the ocean, I can stare at the ocean for hours and I can listen to Bob and Ray all day long. Something else me and KO have in common (along with thousands of other people) but, hey, this is my fantasy so I can believe what I want!

1. I admit, I find that on my XM comedy channels
if I'm flipping through, and Bob & Ray are on, I listen, and I can hear the influence on Keith.

2. I bought an XM radio but...
I'm having trouble getting it hooked up. Should've just bought the boombox that goes with it.

3. Al Franken is also a huge Bob & Ray fan. When he was doing his Sundance
show last year, he had pics of Paul Wellstone, Bob & Ray, and Jack Benny on the walls of his studio — they could be seen in almost every shot. (And B&R were a great influence on Franken and Davis.(

This may be one reason why Al and Keith are so great together!

4. I didn't think Al did too well on The Colbert Report, though
when Stephen asked his stock, "so why do you hate my hero, Papa Bear O'Reilly?" question, I was so hoping Al would answer, "As you have pointed out so often, bears represent a serious threat to our society. Tell me, Stephen: have you always felt an emotional need to "embrace evil" when choosing your heroes?"

5. But that's not funny. Colbert is more of a "character driven" show than
a show to express your real views.

7. I was under the impression that stephen C. Was pretty
much 100 percent of the time doing a Bull O'Liely caricature. 'Course, there are times when I find his show wearisome (Horrors!)

6. Ballou's intro line...
Always coming in just a touch early..." 'ally Ballou here..."
Never fails to crack me up.
