Anybody catch PJ O'Rourke on Mahr?
He stated that the reason we were attacked on 9/11 was because of Israel and that the Jewish state should have been set up in Germany or other European location.

Who does THAT sound like?

2. What caught me was that he said that Israel would not exist
were it not for the US.

Which is nonsense. Sure, Truman was the first to recognize Israel, but the Soviet Union was quick, too. And it was not until 1967, when France's De Gaulle decided that he preferred the Arabs to Israel, that this country started to provide a significant support.

3. I really hate that line of thinking
It's like saying "yeah, let's not let them Jews what *they* want, they can all get whatever everybody else works out best for everybody else".

4. It always pisses me off.
Aside from what you mentioned, it also ignores over 800,000 Sephardim who were displaced from Middle Eastern and North African countries.

As a Sephardic Jew, I take that kind of personally.

The other thing it ignores is the displacement of other peoples. It didn't matter WHERE the Jews were "put". (Like we were a spare vase to put on a back shelf somewhere out of the way.) Whatever resident population was there would have complained, probably violently.

If they had put a Jewish homeland in Antarctica, the penguins would have declared jihad.

6. Antarctica?
NEVER!! Everyone knows penguins are glacial iceholes!

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Seriously, what you say, "It didn't matter WHERE the Jews were "put".", is very true. Even today, if the Jews, not "Israelis" but Jews from that country were moved, per the Iranian Presidential asshole and few other "progressives," people would STILL bitch and moan. Look at the increasing anti-Semitism throughout the world and then compound moving in a bunch of Jews...well, it doesn't take rocket science to figure out what would happen. The new stories of how the Jewish nation, Israel or whatever the new name would be, is hogging all the resources, and the "natives" of the area are being punished for something they had nothing to do with in the first place. Atlantis could rise from the sea, unpopulated, and the Jews moved there and STILL people would bitch about how the "opportunistic Jews 'claim-jumped' (occupied(?))" the region. The story is as old as we, and it is likely it will never change until we are nothing more than a footnote in the pages of history books.

7. "To be Jewish is to suffer."
Is that our lot?

Maybe so.

Now, as to "glacial iceholes" all I can say is.... :spank:

8. Another reason to be annoyed with O'Rourke.
It's a big, big lie about the link between Jews and/or Israel and 9/11. Again, always easy to blame the Jews or some minority for our problems.

This lie is just anti-Judaism bullshit.

9. What the hell is he talking about?
"Because of Israel"? Has he been buying the conspiracy bullshit?

:dunce:

My opinion of him just dropped about a zillion points.
