I'm shocked by all the anti-IDF posts in DU lately
So many of the posters seem to have a complete misunderstanding of what's going on in the middle east. As I see it, nutty groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and all the rest are determined to kill as many Israelis as they can, through suicide bombers, rockets, whatever means they can find.
As a non-Jew (yes, I know the word, but I'm not going to use it) I still fully support the right of the nation of Israel to exist, free from military attacks from their neighbors.
With Hezbollah engaged in a decades long war against Israel, it appears to me that the Israelis are just fed up with them, and are using the opportunity following the Syrian withdrawl from Lebanon to attack their Hezbollah enemy, and try to put them out of the killing business.
When Israel attacks their enemy they have to attack Lebanon. That's where Hezbollah is. I see the destruction of the infrastructure, and the accidental killings of the innocent as the terrible consequences of war. Israel didn't ask for war, but Hezbollah and others continually bring war to Israel. I fully support Israel's attempt to disarm/decapitate Hezbollah, but I remain incredibly shocked at how many DUers misinterpret what is going on.

1. "Attack Hezbollah! Not Lebanon!"
I'm sorry, but where is Hezbollah? Waiting in a boxing ring? If Israel wants to attack Hezbollah, it's going to happen in Lebanon. And if Hezbollah is using a bridge to bring in more rockets and fighters, do people really expect Israel not to bomb it because it's civilian infrastructure? Once Hezbollah starts using it, IMHO, it's not strictly civilian infrastructure anymore.

The ironic thing is, if Israel were allowed to use all of its capabilities (short of gas, bio and nuclear weapons, of course) without the world community trying to "minimize casualities", this would all be over by now because Hezbollah would have gone down in less than 10 days (probably). Forcing restrictions on Israeli actions are only delaying the inivetable that Hezbollah will be destroyed, but is prolonging the suffering of civilians.
