Poll: 81% of U.S. Jews believe Arabs want to destroy Israel
WASHINGTON - Eighty-one percent of American Jews believe that the real goal of the Arabs is the destruction of Israel and not the return of occupied land, according to the annual survey of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) on various issues.

While 54 percent said they supported the establishment of a Palestinian state, only 38 percent said Israel and the Arabs could solve the conflict peacefully. Another 56 percent said they believed the conflict could not be resolved.

According to the survey, a slim majority of American Jews do not believe that the United States should act militarily to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Fifty-four percent opposed such action and 38 percent supported it. However, 57 percent said Israel would be justified in taking military action against Iran, while 35 percent were opposed
to Israel's taking such action.

The polls's 958 respondents were asked about the recent war in Lebanon, both its justification and its management. Fifty-five percent of those polled said Israel acted correctly in going to war, and 35 percent said it did not. Only 24 percent believe Israel won the war against Hezbollah, while 15 percent believe Hezbollah won. Nearly half, 49 percent, said neither side could be considered the winner.

2. This survey relates DIRECTLY to this group!

I posted it in I/P because it had elements that warranted it being posted there as well. The majority of the Jewish DU posters are also American. There are quite a few that will not venture into the I/P forum.

I think the bigger question is why do you appear to be monitoring this forum? And why do you care so much that this was cross-posted in the Jewish room?

On edit: Furthermore, it fits into the realm (per the purpose of the group) of what can be posted here.

3. Because posting of I/P threads is limited to the I/P forum. what's so...
...difficult to understand about that?

I think the moderators have been pretty clear on this for the last three or four years on DU.

4. Perhaps you should read the rules for THIS forum!
Welcome to the DU Jewish Group
Edited on Fri Mar-11-05 07:00 AM by Skinner
The DU Jewish Group is for those who wish to hold respectful discussions of Judaism's beliefs, share faith experiences, discuss anti-Semitism, post prayer requests, discuss Jewish faith, traditions, religious heroes, etc., talk about Jewish education or organizations, or in any way positively explore issues having to do with Judaism. This is also a place to discuss issues such as holiday preparations, food, and other fun things.

Participants need not be practicing Jews but should be respectful of the beliefs and structures of the religion, especially in advocating any changes in religious practices.

This group is intended to be a venue for those who desire to discuss stated topics and is not intended as a forum to argue against Judaism or the State of Israel.

We welcome discussion about Israel and her role in the world. However, this group is not intended to be a place to "rally the troops" for a posting in the Israeli/Palestinian Affairs forum, nor is it intended to take the place of the Israeli/Palestinian Affairs forum. As per DU rules, bigotry (anti-Jewish or Anti-Arab) will not be tolerated. Discussions about Israel and her relations with other Arab nations should be respectful.

(emphasis added)

This article is about American Jews and their opinions about Israel. It can be discussed in this forum. What is so difficult to understand about that? Because it had "I/P" components, I cross-posted it in that forum! This thread has not been used as a "rally the troops" thread, because until today, no one had posted! It has not been used to "replace" I/P discussion because I posted it in I/P for that very reason! And, again, until now, it had not been a 'replacement' for any I/P discussion (as those two threads are moving along much faster than this one). My cross-posting this article is no different than when I cross-posted a piece about anti-Semitism and 9-11, which I posted here and in the 9-11 forum.

So again, the real question here is what is your problem? This thread has not violated the other two conditions about discussing Israel in this forum. If anything, you are making an issue where there is none.

I am speaking for the moderators of this forum as I know the subject matter and I know the participants.

This thread can stay here PROVIDED it concerns itself with only with the discussion among and about the American Jewish community's reactions towards Israel (the Point of View is NOT from Israel/Palestine or the immediate area nor does it attempt to address or revisit events or issues inside of Israel/Palestine). Posts that deal directly with events or matters inside of Israel or are direct reflections of such events are not allowed.
