Q. I'm disabled, on SS disability and I am
also drawing my Postal disability retirement. As some may know, I get my SS disability, but my Postal disability check subtracts the amount I draw from SS.

A friend of mine said that when I reach my retirement age, the amount will change. Is this true? I don't think it will. Who's right.

3. I found this on the OPM site
BTW, I am on FERS

I am receiving a Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) disability benefit. Will my benefit ever change?

If you were under 62 when your disability benefit began, and were not eligible for a voluntary immediate benefit, your benefit will be recomputed after you have been retired for 12 months. The recomputed annuity will be 40 percent of your high-3 average salary minus 60 percent of your monthly Social Security benefit, or your earned benefit, whichever is higher.

At age 62, your benefit is recomputed as though you had continued working until age 62. (Your average salary is increased by all FERS Cost-of-Living Adjustments paid while you were disabled.)

It appears that I will be getting the COLA's I haven't been getting since I was put out to stud. They are taking out 100%, not 60%.

5. My SS disability was equal to the amount I would collect when I reached the age of 65
I got SS disability at age 60. I had to wait 2 years before I was elegible for Medicare at age 62.

I didn't have any other retirement plans.
