Okay. It's late. Freidrichs Ataxia,
ever heard of it? Our son is 33 and thinking about his death.

1. I just read up on it
although I have never heard of it before you mentioned it, I am so sorry about your son. You must be heartsick.

Does he have diabetes also? Or heart problems or other contributing factors?

It seems so unfair that this is another disease that strikes young people in their prime.

It must be so difficult for all of you.

Even though I am not well versed with this disease my heart goes out to you and your family.

Peace
gelliebeans

2. Thanks, gellie. Yes, it's absolutely devastating.

This man was a carefree young boy, and now he's going to be wheelchair bound for the rest of his life, which will probably be short.
To set the record straight, he's my step-son. His parents had gene flaws no one knew about til it was too late. Hell, we didn't know he had a problem until his mid-20s. His sister is unaffected.
No, no diabetes or heart problems yet; he does have 2 children and cannot help around the home which bums him out. His wife is a saint.
Life can suck, so for those who are relatively free of problems, take heed and enjoy your lot in life.
And this is a whole new learning experience for all of us, sadly. :grouphug:
