Some rare good news!
I'm sure a bunch of people with back pain have had epidurals to help deal with it. I don't know how well it went for you, but I've been disappointed.

I had my second epidural today. (actually, it's the second injection of the second set of 3 epidurals, so it's really my 5th injection)

Unlike the previous times, there is no explosion of pain. In the past I'd have a whole lot of pain for a day, and then a reduction in pain for a week or so. The last injection was the worst. There was no reduction in pain at all, just agony for a few days and then back to the normal levels of pain.

But the injection today seems to have been a success. No explosion of pain today, and in fact, I'm in much less pain than I've been in for almost a year!

It's so rare to have good news. I can't believe how happy I feel. This is the first time I've ever had a REDUCTION of pain.
:woohoo:

I hope good news is contagious!

2. That is good news!
I hope it continues. I need to schedule an epidural for my back, kinda scared of doing it but the PT didn't work at all and actually made things worse.

3. I had bad experiences with PT too.
I think most Physical Therapists are handing out pre-fab excercise plans without having any real clue what they're doing. x(

I hope you get good results from the epidural.

5. excellent!
i just got home from the rheumie's after getting 3 shots in the arm that has been agonizing me for almost 2 months. not sure how much that has helped yet. i just need to get through this weekend. i have a studio show and sale, and i just don't think it would be too good to be waving my arm around like a kindergartener imitating a berserk elephant.
glad to hear that it is helping thom. chronic pain sucks so f'ing bad.

6. I really hope those shots help you.
I'd like to be part of a trend of people having good news to post. :)

Chronic pain truly sucks. We all deserve a break.

8. it sounds like they might have tried it at a higher level
up rather than at the epicenter of where you're reporting the pain.

Spinal pain control can work wonders. Have they discussed long term pain control with you?

9. I've been with this pain management doctor
for 5 years now. This is the second time they've tried a round of epidurals. The first time, 2 years ago, did nothing. Other than this, the long term plan is medication and periodic physical therapy.

10. Dude, that is *awesome*!!
How are you feeling, coming up on a week later? Are you still having any relief from it? (I'm unfamiliar with the duration of the results.)

:bounce: for you!

12. That is so awesome!
I had 4 injections this past summer and had no relief at all. It's great to hear that some people do have success with them.

Have you been diagnosed with any particular problem? I had spinal fusion in Sept. and am still recovering, but definitely feel better.

13. As a fellow backpain sufferer, I can only say CONGRATULATIONS!
No one can understand the meaning of back pain if they haven't experienced it themselves.

And often, it is something we are told to "live with" or adjust to, or "exercise" our way out of it.

SO glad that you have respite (I do to and it's name is Vicodeine.)
