I am going to see an acupuncturist next Wednesday

I had two torn meniscus's in one knee which the orthopedic doctor removed. Afterward, osteoarthritis set in with a vengeance (his words).
I tried office jobs after this, but bending over to file, or bending over at all would almost incapacitate me the next day.

Now, I work in sales and am on my feet alot. Since I am favoring the one leg and standing mostly on the other one, I am having severe problems with pain in my GOOD leg (knee).
This is now having an impact on my hips.

I heard acupuncture was good for this, so wish me luck.

If it doesn't work, I am faced with going on permanent disability. It is that bad.

I could go get a knee replacement, but I will surely lose my job.

I love working and would be bored to tears if I had to stay home all the time.

I think that you might need several sessions to feel any affects. I hope that this works for you.

2. Knee replacement is the real fix

so as soon as you can manage the time off, do it. It's crazy to live in pain if you don't have to.

Acupuncture will relieve some of the pain. You might find you'll need a mild narcotic if the pain is so intense you can't stoop or maintain weight bearing on the affected leg. It's only a bandaid until you can get that surgery, though.

Your doc will be your best guide on this stuff. Don't be afraid of painkillers. If you use them correctly and strictly according to prescription, they can be your best friend.

3. It's a choice....keep job with band-aid, or lose job with knee replacement

I want the knee replacement so bad, I can taste it. It took so long to find the job I now have, and the job market being as it is, I am very afraid to take the chance. It is bad enough for the younger set, but I am in my 50's, and nobody wants me these days.

I am hoping that the acupuncture can buy me some more time until the job market gets better or until I have enough time on the job where they want to keep me aboard to grant me the time to recuperate.
