by shutting down all possible svchost.exes

Ok, I know it's me and not the good people at MS who wrote VISTA. One of my wackinesses is I am noise conscious and noises that sound like machine abuse get to me very quickly. When I'm sitting reading and the computer only has the desktop showing I feel like my computer is being taken over by some foreign/alien user as the fan is constantly revving up and down.

I've been searching Task Manager for weeks trying to figure it out, turning off processes here and there and crashing the system. Minutes ago I found the button to show processes of all users'...dang there were 3 svchost.exe processes running that were huge!

I turned them off. The CPU is running cool, and the fan is running steady and quiet, the library no longer sounds like my gas-powered brush-cutter working in the middle of an acre of prickly-ash!

2. I drown mine out with net radio.
I have an HP and whenever something stresses the machine like a virus update or a video, the fan really starts to roar. It's not painful, just annoying.

Net radio takes care of it.
