Anyone else fans of a team
located in a place they don't live, and have never lived? Why?

Around here, everyone is a Cardinals fan.

I personally am an A's fan. I've never even been to Oakland, but I love those A's....

1. Yeah, I'm an Indians fan...
...I grew up in N. Indiana and now live in Washington DC. I've never lived in Cleveland, or near it.

In my town everyone was a White Sox, or Tigers fan (with a few Cubs and Yankee fans thrown in). Being a contrarian from a young age I chose the Indians (and let that be a lesson to all you contrarians!).

2. Dodgers
...since 1965. I've always lived in central Kollyforniya, in Giants/A's country. Can't even get LA on the radio here, so it's the audio stream from mlb.com.

Can anyone explain why they're a fan of a particular team? I can't, any more than I can explain why I love a particular woman.

3. Live in Portland, OR. No MLB here.

Closest team to me is Seattle (170 miles).

7. I was hoping
Portland would get the Expos, so I'd have two teams to follow - one in each league.

8. You, me. So many people wanted that..

Everybody but Governor K. I could have cried when he
turned down the tribes' offer to underwrite a stadium
in return for building a casino in Portland.

6. Well, I don't live IN Chicago...
I'm 90 miles away in Illinois, so maybe that counts, maybe not.

9. I'm a Mariners fan
When I first started really following baseball, I was a big fan of Ken Griffey, Jr., Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, and (later on) A-Rod, so, naturally, I became a Mariner fan. Got caught up in the 1995 pennant chase.

10. Ah, the magical season that saved baseball in Seattle.
And then there was Soho and Cora. Remember 19-year-old
Alex consoling Joey Cora after we lost the ALCS? (Edgar's
double kind of goes without saying, you know?)

I became a Mariner fan in '94, the lockout year, but it
was right around that time. Fun.

11. I grew up on the Mets and Reds, especially the Reds
but it's been the SF Giants for the last few years.
I visited SF once when I was 13, but I've always lived elsewhere.
