Kirby Puckett suffers strokes

FORT MYERS, FLA. -- Hall of Famer and Twins great Kirby Puckett suffered a stroke this morning at his Scottsdale, Ariz., home and was at Scottsdale Osborne Hospital where he was undergoing surgery.

He was initially taken to Scottsdale Memorial Hospital before being air-lifted to Osborne.

He is only a couple of years older than I.

3. Damn, this is sad.

Remeber several years ago when Letterman was doing a deal where he'd fly in audience from different states? The night he had the Minnesota audience he had Kirby on the show. Letterman said the next night he'd never had a guest who got the kind of ovation Kirby did from the Minnesota fans. As I recall, it went on for several minutes.
